7mo ds3 to the cinema with ds1 and 2?

Dh working all weekend and the weather forecast is dismal so anticipating severe cabin fever. Easter hols just finished so have done loads of softplay, outings etc (inc one aborted outing to indoor miniature golf where we were told that under 3s were not permitted - not to play or even to be there in a sling...).

Thinking it might be nice to go and see the Horton Who Dr Seuss thing on Sat afternoon - would you be cross if there were a baby in the audience who could be breastfeeding and then sleeping if I time it right (which I would endeavour to do)???

WOuldnt bother me at all.

Pinkjenny · 10/04/2008 11:51

We used to go to Baby Screenings when dd was tiny. She loved it, but there were older babies crawling around the floor.

No one seemed to bother though, I think if its a childrens film and you take ds3 out if he starts wailing it'll be fine.

Mamazon · 10/04/2008 11:51

hmm if baby waas feeding and then sleeping no one would realise baby was there.

BUT should baby not play ball...i would be a bit irritated (though understanding of your plight)

No kids films are noisy anyway. Might be a bit concerned that the cinema would be too noisy for the baby though.

how old are ds 1 and 2
I used to it and sat in the seats right by the entrance /side and push dd4 up and down in her trolley when she would not settle while being ale to keep an eye on them -- dd3 and dd2 but we went all the time and to be honest the dark and the noise just sent her to sleep I used to feed her too itsettled her to sleep and I got to see the film too lol
good luck have fun

How old are DS1 and DS2? are you comfortable enough leaving them in their cinema seats by themselves if DS3 started screaming and you thought it best to walk him up and down outside the cinema (outside the screen door not the actually cinema!)

As much as I would expect some noise if I saw a childs film there is a difference between a 3yo stage whispering wanting more sweets from Mum and a 7mo crying. I also think Amapoleon has a point about it actually just being too loud for the baby.

Wouldn't bother me to have a baby in the 'audience'. I've wanted to take ds to cinema but never did as wasn't sure how people would react if he started crying.

The only thing I would e concerned about is if he did really start crying and you had to take him outside then you might have to take your other ds's too, as I probably would feel comfortable about leaving them on their own in a dark place IYSWIM.

However I took dd's to High School Musical On Ice an dhad to take ds who was 10 months then. I was really worried how he would be, but he was brilliant.
He was a bit shocked when the it started and the music started booming and the lights were flashing and he sat there a bit shocked. Then after 10 minutes of shock he fell asleep and woke up again right at the end when the fireworks started.

Ds1 is 7.5 and ds2 is 5. They would probably be fine and would be quite contained were I to pop outside. Had thought we would aim to sit in seats where I could either pace or duck out.

Our lovely independent cinema does baby screenings but it's only for adults and children under 1 - they show the full spectrum of film certs so it's for the benefit of the parent rather than the child.

It's not the hols nor the opening weekend - may give it a shot...
