To want to cry at my sister's washing?

She has three girls and is currently on holiday with them. I'm house sitting until next weekend and there's washing everywhere. I've filled four ikea bags and still have a pile that's filled the bath. I'm planning to get it washed and dried for her but I'm honestly looking at the pile and don't know where to start. She has a washer dryer and it's taking ages per load (no laundries around here, just forecourt washers that are like £10 a wash!)

No she hasn't asked me specifically to do it but she was complaining about the state of her house last week so I know she won't mind. She's been struggling with her MH lately and having it looming over her can't be helping! And she's starting a new full time job next week so if I leave it it'll never get done!

Same. Even though the picture is now down. If this was my sister I wouldn't be happy.

Well you're not the sister, are you?

The photo was hardly outing and the OP knows her sister best to know if this will be kindly received.

Stop being so negative!

If you have an outside washing line available, make use of that in this hot weather in preference to using the tumbler. Get as much of the laundry washed & dried as you can but I don't think there's any need to iron it all; just fold up the towels & bedding and leave the rest for your sister to sort out and put away where she wants it to go.

Personally, I choose the forecourt washers as they are so big you will probably get several loads worth in one go. It’ll save you an awful lot of time. I think it’s very kind what you’re doing and I think it will really help her because the overwhelm she feels looking at it all must be awful if she suffering with her mental health.

She was absolutely made up and delighted when she came home to a clean, tidy, washingless house. 😁

Well done OP - excellent job - sis now needs to get rid of all the unneeded clothes and keep on top of it all.
well done for giving her breathing space.

Love the update!

I think a clean would be a lovely gesture. You've lots of time while the washing machine is on! The fridge and kitchen area would be the obvious one for me. And a good dusting hoovering. Tidying someone else's mess is difficult as things get lost but sorting and categorising stuff into baskets or even bundles would be a great help.

OP, did she share with you why she had built up so much washing? Just wondering if you could help her to stay on top of her household?
