Neighbours spitting out the window

And also loudly and repeatedly huaking and spitting in their downstairs bathroom with the window open.

We live in a terrace and if we have the kitchen or downstairs bathroom window open or if I’m sitting in my home office, it’s going on constantly throughout the day. Whyyyyyyyy 😫

It’s soooooooooo disgusting

Particularly the opening the back window and spitting into their own yard 🤢🤢🤢

Background

Our neighbours are not British and we assume this is a cultural difference. There is a family with (we think) 3 adult grown men and 2 women and a baby. They are pleasant if we see them in the street and their baby is lovely.

I feel like there is probably nothing we can do but open to suggestions or even just being told I’m not going mad and this is fucking gross 😆😆 It is driving me mad!!!!

I had neighbours from Pakistan who spat in the communal staircase. They did not take kindly to being asked to stop. I had a visit from the police and was accused of racism.

Same. Ages ago when I lived in a flat (house converted into flats) that had a communal hallway and staircase which were both carpeted, my neighbour used to spit as he was walking down the stairs on his way out.

I actually vomited in a tissue a couple of times at the sight of his green phlegmy spit sinking into the carpet and remember hating how I had to dodge the sticky pools each time I went in or out. Still males me sick to think of it.

Once our downstairs neighbour (female) told him how disgusting it was and asked him to stop. He laughed at her and shrugged his shoulders. Carried on doing it until next door neighbour, (separate property, just one house), complained that he was spitting out of his side window and onto his fence. This neighbour was a burly bloke and spitter never spat again. It was definitely a cultural thing.
