AIBU to ask where to buy teenage boys clothing?

Where do you buy clothing for 13 year old boys? Ds has no real interest in fashion, and has been happy in mostly supermarket clothes and similar, but is now apparently too old. Where can we buy cheap basic clothes from now?

Ds lived in tracksuits from sports direct at that age, plus an occasional smart pair of jeans and polo short from primark when the occasion required it.

He wears similar now at 17, but is very into expensive brands now 😬

H&M, great for unbranded good quality clothed that are not too uncool.

Yes, I forgot about H & M as well!

Mine like Boohoo man and ASOS

This year I asked my 14yr old for some shopping parameters eg branded or not, sports or "shop" brands, range of colours etc
Then I went on Vinted and added tons that fit the bill to my favourites, then got him to yes or no them. Ended up with mostly Adidas but he was happy and I know he has stuff he will actually wear.
Filtered by New or New without tags and didn't spend more than a fiver per top. No way could I have bought as much in a shop if he wanted all sports brands!

Notimeforaname · 27/06/2024 22:42

As above. Sports Direct and Primark.
If shopping online, MandMdirect is good.

Thanks everyone. He lives in joggies, t shirts and hoodies. The main issue is he's at that awkward age where he's not big enough for adults clothes but a lot of kids clothes seem to stop at age 12 and he now needs 13-14

Vinted - New and nearly new

Zanatdy · 28/06/2024 03:34

My oldest was always in jeans and T-shirts, younger son was always sports wear, tracksuit bottoms and T-shirt (and suit for 6th form). Thankfully none (including DD my youngest) has been into expensive brands. I might buy them an odd designer T-shirt / coat etc as a gift but my younger son is 20 soon and I don’t think he’s ever bought himself any clothes bar an odd item online, he’s happy with what I choose for him!

GaspingGekko · 28/06/2024 03:45

My kids love H&M, and I don't know where in the world you are - you're posting in the middle of the UK night - but Kiabi is great if you have that where you're based.

Another for vinted. My sister buys and sells for her 5 kids on there with no issues.

TK maxx another good option.

Stopsnowing · 28/06/2024 04:26

Primark - mens small size - more choice and not much more expensive than kids

HowNice23 · 28/06/2024 04:45

Medium mens trackies and t shirts until they have an opinion. Then sports direct/TK Maxx/primark and let them pick stuff.

AGodawfulsmallaffair · 28/06/2024 04:54

Boohoo , Asos and Topman, although that’s at Asos now anyway.

Mumof1andacat · 28/06/2024 05:32

Primark boys go up to 15 years

Beelavinder · 28/06/2024 05:38

Online Next and marks and Spencers go up to 16.
Both mine get the majority of clothes at these 2 shops.

Anywherebuthere · 28/06/2024 05:39

Jds for tracksuits, joggers, hoodies and footwear for the branded stuff (usually when the sales are on).

Next for jeans and other unbranded clothes.

MatronPomfrey · 28/06/2024 06:51

My 12 year old wears age 14 from H&M and M&S. they go up to age 16. Although mostly online rather than in shops. M&S usually have 3 for 2 on basics.

Maray1967 · 28/06/2024 06:56

Next - mine is very skinny (16) so we get Next kids jeans that have adjustable waists. He’s too slim waisted for the adult range!

Andwegoroundagain · 28/06/2024 06:58

If he doesn't care about what he wears, I got mine clothes from Amazon and Peacock and occasionally elsewhere. I just went cheap as they grow like bloody trees !

icelollycraving · 28/06/2024 07:00

I’m finding pjs tricky to find that aren’t too babyish and reasonable. Ds likes Nike, football kits and I’ve got H&M stuff for him.

Brands like hollister that do an xs should work.
