Is it rude to sell garden loungers neighbours passed on to us?

Last night, I heard my neighbour go past and ask Dh if we wanted they’re old garden sunloungers as they were going to throw them out (still nice and in good condition, but they have new ones)
Dh didn’t even check and said yes and thanked them etc. We don’t have enough room in the back garden now as it’s full of DD’s things-large trampoline, pool, slide set, bench and so on, my days of sunbathing on loungers in the garden are gone for now. So now we’re stuck with three loungers, is it out of order to stick them on Marketplace for a cheap price?

You tell the neighbours you don't have space and that you'll pass them on to someone for free.

Take to the charity shop or put for collection on marketplace.

Would be bad form to sell them.

So what is your DH doing about it ? He was the one who accepted something else's junk to clog up your house

Nevermadechurrosbefore · 27/06/2024 21:33

@CheshireDing This is it, he’s done nothing about it, they’re just sat there! I said to him there’s no room for them

If you're asking a cheap price to avoid time wasters that you get when you offer stuff for free then why not sell them and donate the money to charity?

Springwatch123 · 27/06/2024 21:39

Speak to the neighbours, and say that you don’t actually want them. See whether they want them back or suggest you’re going donate them to charity shop.

cherish123 · 27/06/2024 22:11

Of course you can't sell them.
Give them away.

Janehasamane · 27/06/2024 22:14

Just tell them thanks but no space, so going to pass them on to a good home, and give them away, don’t sell them , that will just be so cheeky.

They were going to put them by the large bins/skip at the end of the road, would it be cheeky to do this too? I basically just want rid of them!

This would really piss me off if you did this.
Explain that you don't have space for them and give them back.
If your neighbours really don't want them explain that uou will sell them and give them half of the £s

It would be different if you'd had them for months but not days.

dimsumfatsum · 27/06/2024 22:31

Where are you? I've been looking for some!

NDmumoftwo · 27/06/2024 22:43

You tell them that sorry you don't want them. You're responsible of getting rid of them. If you ask for a few £ to ensure you don't get a ton of CF time wasters asking you to deliver them or for extra cushions you spend it on a nice bottle of bubbles and take it round to them.

Looolaaa · 28/06/2024 08:42

There’s no issue getting rid of them as far as I can see. Probably best to have a chat with neighbours first.

Its the taking money for them part that’s completely wrong IMO. You say in a reply you just want rid but if that’s the case just give them away.

Hateliars34 · 28/06/2024 10:23

If you just want to get rid of them, why won't you give them away for free?! You still haven't answered why you actually want to sell them.

No because that's illegal fly tipping. Offer them back to neighbours, if not, put them on Facebook for free.

Yes that is really rude.

Just tell them you dont have room for them and do they want them back or you can offer them for free on marketplace.

Move your kid stuff to the tip so you've got some adult relaxing space!
