To hold DD back from nursery excursions?

I live abroad in a hot country.

My DD is 20 months old and goes to nursery / playschool from 9-1 every morning whilst I work.

The age range of the nursery is 18 months to 4 years. During summer, they also run a little summer school meaning that extra kids aged between 3-5 attend.

During this time they do lots of fun activities. Some of which involve leaving the nursery to go to : beach, park, on the tourist choo choo train etc.

I feel really uneasy about DD leaving the nursery. I trust the girls who work there but I DD does have a habit of running off and I just know I'll be worrying all day long.

I have messaged the nursery owner to very politely say I would rather keep her at home those days until she's a little bigger so can she please advise the days of the excursions so I can make a note.

But now I'm worrying that I'm overthinking it and that maybe I should let her go.... help?!

AIBU ?!?

I’d go with your gut op. We had to do the same as we have a runner, though in our place there was questionable safety issues regarding the excursions so for us it was an easy no thanks not this year! We were also not the only ones who declined so if it dosent feel right it’s ok to wait till she is a bit bigger!

You either trust them or you don’t. Do you really think they take the children out without buggies or reins or whatever else, or that they’ve never dealt with a bolter before?

When I worked in nurseries we didn’t always plans ahead. If it was a nice day and we had enough staff we’d go to the park.
