To not invite him?

My Ds is soon to turn 7, and we're currently organising a birthday party. Ds wants a soft play or similar, so min 10 max 15 kind of thing. We went through his friends yesterday and one particular boy (who he was friendly with at nursery but since starting school have gradually drifted) not on there. However his mum has already asked if we have plans for ds birthday so guess expecting an invite?

AIBU for not inviting? I have checked with DS and he said doesn't really want to invite this boy, I guess it will just be pretty awkward when some others in the year get a invite and he doesn't, half expecting the mum to approach me again tbh

Invite who your son plays with, as long as your not just leaving 1 boy out its fine. If mum says anything just be honest and say X only had 9 spaces and Y wasn't invited because their just not good friends anymore, say it's a shame but that's how friendship groups work.

Was she not just making conversation? I doubt she's actually that bothered.

"min 10 max 15" would be about half of a class of kids.

If he's inviting every boy in his class bar one, then I don't think it's fair to leave one person out like that.

If he's inviting a mix of boys and girls, so it's not just one person left out, then there's no problem.
