How long until you see signs of weight loss?

I don’t own a pair of scales.
I started doing My fitness pal 5 weeks ago, I’ve stuck to it-1200 calories per day, aside from going over a couple of days, but then I’ve cut back a lot the next day.
I know it’s not much time, but would I not see slight differences by now? I’m going to bed hungry most nights, in the past a couple of weeks of this and pants were slightly bigger

What am I doing wrong?

Is your bra cup looser?

Could be lots of things - it's possible to eat too little, or eat the wrong things. How does 1200cal (which doesn't sound like much to be fair!) compare to your TDEE? If you're petite it might not be much of a deficit... Age might be a factor - I think often hormonal changes can mean different types of diets can be more/less effective for example. Not really enough info!

@BaronessBomburst Not yet 😕

That's very disappointing after 5 weeks. If I was going to bed hungry I'd want to be a size 8 as compensation!

Well for starters you shouldnt be going to bed hungry.

Honestly, you need to either get some scales or take measurements and re-measure monthly otherwise how are you going to know how well/badly you are doing. For all you know, what you are eating may not work well with your diet/metabolism and keeping track of your progress is going to make you stay on track I would imagine.

Depending on how much you weigh I would imagine that you should have lost at least 7 lbs by now which won't make a significant way to how you/your clothes feel. Keep going, but yes, you need to start tracking your progress.

I had lost quite a lot of weight before my clothes fitted differently in a noticeable way. Do you have an aversion to scales? If you are losing, even slowly, they are a huge incentive to keep going. And also to not putting the weight back on.

I weigh daily before I get dressed.

I agree that you shouldn't be going to bed hungry.

I started to notice a difference at around 4-6 weeks but I never went to bed hungry. I was also VERY pernickety about tracking/cutting down on the empty calories so things like milk in tea, butter/spread/cooking oils etc.
