DD is 5, long legs and slim, length wise she is in 5-6 but the waistbands always gape and fall down. I’ve tried ASDA, Tu, Next, they’re all massive. Any ideas please?

Cheap clothes are worst for this.

M&s do skinny fit school uniform and lots of button adjustment waists.

Vertbaudet come up narrow.

Zara, H&M and Decathlon were great for my slim children.

Zara.

Some M&S okay although sometimes jeans etc don't sit right once you've pulled the waist right in.

I have a 7 year old who is 70th centile height wise and <1st centile weight wise, which means she needs age 8 length leggings minimum and has the waist of a 3-4 year old!!!

Next do long length plain leggings (and last year they did some of their patterned leggings in long length but not this year)!

I buy a couple of pairs of the long length in a size down and use a Dylin machine dye to make it so she has cerise and burgundy leggings that still have to be nipped in at the waist but aren't then clown baggy on the leg!!

I actually find leggings from the US supermarket Target to be really good for being slim and long in the leg if you know anyone who will be anywhere near a Target (the brand is Cat & Jack on case you wanted to check out vinted)

GAP & La Redoute, my son has always been a petite boy, these brands fit him perfectly when younger.

In other places he was always in two sizes minimum down from his actual age. At 14 he’s only just going into his actual age clothing this past year. Bottoms are still big though but he needs his size for length. Thank goodness for Asda’s slim fit adjustable waist school trousers!

I have the opposite problem for my daughter who is several sizes above her age but I still want age appropriate for her instead of tiny shorts and belly tops and boring colours.

Polarn O. Pyret have adjustable waistbands - there's a buttonhole inside to select best fit. Really nice quality too.

Petit bateau. Polarn o pyret. Oilily. My kids lived in these brands

Or cheap clothes I've found Matalan leggings are quite good for my skinny 3 year old. The legs are a good bit longer and they're smaller round the waistband than the same age tesco leggings

I have this problem too. I don't find some of the brands mentioned here any good for DS - he's nearly 5 but age 3-4 shorts from H&M fall down on him for example. Primark stuff swamps him too. My main solution is to wash everything badly so it shrinks a bit. We do have some adjustable waist trousers from vertbaudet which are okay as well albeit it always ends up bunching around the waist.

Gap saved us many a time, they often have the elastic waistband with the button where you can adjust how snug it fits

I have this issue with super skinny and tall 6yo. Another vote for Polarn O. Pyret and Lindex leggings with adjustable waists. Decathlon do slim fitting sports leggings with an adjustable waist too (up to 5-6).

Boden, not cheap, although sometimes you can get bundles off eBay.
