Men and their fragile egos

Foo Fighters and Taylor Swift have been playing in London this weekend, with Dave Grohl taking an obvious swipe at TS in his set, by nicknaming his gigs "the errors tour," and that errors occur in his set because his band "actually play live."

Dave Grohl is worth $330 million. He could buy the moon if he wanted. He never needs to worry about money. But what he clearly does worry about is being trumped at the superstar status polls by the sheer footfall of people attending Taylor's gigs and the outpouring of love and happiness her concerts provoke. I am not a Swifty, I don't listen to her songs but it's evident to me that she has more to offer to the crowd that simply her music. Her concerts are full of kids, and adults of all ages. There's no viciousness or unpleasant rhetoric. She advocates empathy and engagement, and connectivity between people. That to me, appears to be her superpower. People like the feeling she evokes in them.

Dave Grohl on the other hand, is a superbly talented musician with a career spanning nearly 3 decades in the spotlight. He has the ability to create and play excellent music. He has no need to feel threatened by another performer. And yet his nasty comments about TS show that he does, in fact have a need to publicly put her down.

I would argue that DG is the musically superior of the two. His comments are odd and somehow petty given that he's mega-rich and extremely talented. So what else could have motivated him to say this? It must be that his ego is fragile and is under threat. A man who could have anything he wants and is at the top of his artistic game and yet............his ego is hurt by a successful, creative woman.

Do you think he would have taken this cheap shot at a fellow performer if that fellow performer was another man? I don't think he would.

It's so unattractive and infantile for someone of his standing to bitch about a woman on stage in this way. He could play his gig, enjoy doing his thing and try and be an adult. But no. He had to get that pot shot in there. He could use his status for good, rather than simply pander to his mammoth ego but obviously he's not mature enough.

Will men ever grow the fuck up?

I'm a fan of both TS and foo fighters (and have been to the Era's tour and foo fighters latest tour within a week of each other) so definitely rubbish to see this. The FF show I was at, he did make a joke about the 'errors' tour (she was playing in Liverpool the same night) but didn't say anything negative about TS though it was a bit uncomfortable when the crowd were booing.

The video definitely makes it seem like more of a dig this time round and it's a shame when there were undoubtedly fans of both at the show, that it seems like the crowd were encouraged to boo. Just seems like a cheap shot from DG to be honest.

With the issue with his daughter, apparently she minimised a situation with AI porn which TS was a victim of which was what started the pile on by TS fans - then carried on with the private jet comment. Doesn't excuse the disgusting behaviour of some TS 'fans' back to her though...

Highly doubt he is jealous of TS though as some people seem to think 😂

The bit that got missed from the coverage is that he started by saying they'd usually play Wembley when in London but someone else was playing there....

I agree. I always liked the Foo Fighters, and Dave Grohl, but that was a dickhead comment. He's weirdly bitter, and jealous of Taylor's success. He's just a new version of Kanye West. Can't stand it that a beautiful young woman is a roaring worldwide success, and is achieving the levels of success and fan adoration that he wishes he could get.

NOT a good look. Gone right of Dave now.

Oh dear, Mr Grohl - sorry you're ego was challenged by a powerg)

Boxina · 24/06/2024 18:54

The thing that's really surprised me about this is that Americans say eras as errors.

I saw the clip earlier and thought it was unnecessary, it seems odd to be negative about her when he didn't need to.

Newgirls · 24/06/2024 18:59

Whether she or anyone plays live or not is irrelevant. He didn’t need to say anything. Older blokes making jokes about younger women is rarely a good look

fiddleleaffig · 24/06/2024 19:18

I've lost all respect for David Grohl now and will happily boycott Foo Fighters from now on.

Whether you like Taylor Swift or not, there is never any need to insult and tear down another artist.

It just comes across like a pathetic man intimidated by a woman's success. Would he say the same about Ed Sheeran? Doubt it

I'd give my last Rolo to bet it was planned and there'll be some sort of collab and reconciliation where they both come out looking great.
