DH says hurtful “jokes”

My hubby is not abusive but every time he says mean things and says it’s a “joke”. Today he said “did I give birth to my dog?”
I’ve told him to stop saying mean things and say it’s a “joke”. He says he’s sorry but then does it again.
Is this normal?

I don't get the joke. It certainly wasn't funny, I hate people who pass off shitty mean comments as jokes

If he's always been like it and you've always been offended then why marry and then expect him to change?

Tell him straight out you aren’t the straight man to an insult comic. Be very bored dismissive “Oh this crap again? Whoever told you that you could do standup was full of shit.” If he’s hurt tell him you were “just jiking”

Then that leaves just one course of action.
