dd and I love baking together and now at school they do cake sales which she now wants to do her own on the green outside our house for neighbours/children that play here.
i feel a bit awkward with the idea of it, should I say no?

My daughter raised loads doing a fun cake sale - we just did donations in return for cakes (all for charity)- we invited friends/family/neighbours and people were very generous (we made a poster with a QR code to donate to the justgiving page). She's desperate to do it again but need to have some time pass first as people won't be so generous so soon after! She should go for it!

I agree with the PP about how it can sadly Go wrong. I’m speaking from experience here. The slightest thing and it will come back on you

Do tell us about the time you had a cake sale and it went terribly wrong 🙄. If it was as bad as you say it must have been in the news so you can just post a link if that’s easier.

I’ll wait.

My little girl did this, I was not keen, we only got pity sales, I saw some neighbours walk a different way round so as not to pass us, half way through her friends came by and fingered all the cakes without buying and then my daughter ran off with them to play and did not come back, leaving me sat like a weirdo with the melting ‘cakes’.

Awww but your daughter will remember that you supported her and helped make her idea happen! Hopefully you kept some non-fingered bits of cake at home as compensation.

a little update, my daughter did her cake sale and she absolutely loved it! Everyone was so supportive. We didn’t have any negative comments, she had quite a few sales from neighbours which was really nice. She wants to do it again so I think she’s going to team up with a friend at school next time!

We did this with cookies for Ukraine - my girl raised about £300 which was amazing. Good luck to your little one xx
