You’re all making me feel so much better. I have just under 100 between physical books and what’s stored on my kindle.

Storyland · 22/06/2024 13:00

I have 6 books waiting to be read.

I realised that having a big stack of books waiting for me stressed me out so last year I worked really hard to get my TBR (to be read) pile down to zero.

I enjoy book shopping a lot more now and can re-read old favourites without feeling guilty that the TBR books might be feeling neglected

CaputDraconis · 22/06/2024 13:12

Physical books about 50
Audiobooks about 100
Kindle books over 600

I do read over 100 books a year though and I am a firm believer that buying books and reading books are different hobbies.

Conkersinautumn · 22/06/2024 13:14

I have a very long TBR list, but I'm feeling positively angelic that one's I've bought (kindle or physical) it's about 5.

LemonCitron · 22/06/2024 13:16

Approx 250 (mostly kindle).

purpleme12 · 22/06/2024 13:19

Well over 100 waiting to be read

And yes I do keep buying more...!

BeachHutsAndDeckchairs · 22/06/2024 13:22

Just 2 and a half. I don't read much because I don't have the concentration span needed to do so any more. I can't get into stories so they're books about social history.

DaffydownClock · 22/06/2024 15:18

200? A lot!

Beezknees · 22/06/2024 15:21

About 20 right now.

dimsumfatsum · 22/06/2024 15:37

786 or so...

incessantpunditry · 22/06/2024 15:46

Some of you have a heck of a lot of books to get through.

On average, how long does it take you to read a book? I can usually manage it in a few hours over a couple of days, but if you have hundreds waiting... 😮

Isis1981uk · 22/06/2024 15:50

NotSoSimpleHere · 22/06/2024 12:28

How on earth do you manage to read 100+ a year? I get through about one audiobook a week but physical, I do well with one every two-three weeks.

I don't know, I'm quite a fast reader, but I just make time for it. I read for 30 minutes during my lunch break at work, at least 20 minutes in a bath every night, and for up to an hour in bed before I go to sleep.

I have 2 bookcases of books to be read. My mistake is I regularly get books from the library. I need to start reading what I own, and then getting rid of any that I won't re-read.

bagpuss90 · 22/06/2024 16:01

Enough to fill a sodding library 🤣

WeRateSquirrels · 22/06/2024 16:04

None! Occasionally I’ll have one or two library books waiting, but a big pile would stress me out. I read around 50 a year, not including audiobooks.

peebles32 · 22/06/2024 16:45

Do you mean ones I have bought? I have 120 on Goodreads but only two ready to read that are paid for.

soberfabulous · 22/06/2024 17:48

I have found my people!!

I probably have around 50 waiting to be read.

I read between 120-140 books a year so I feel better with lots ready to go.

I don't watch any tv before someone asks how I find the time...once DD is in bed I read from 8-1030 each night. It's such a joy in my life.

soberfabulous · 22/06/2024 17:49

Also, once I've read them I give them away. Curate them for friends. Also run a Little Free Library from outside our house.

So I feel better about all the books as they always go out into the world to fulfill their destiny and bring joy to others ❤️ 📚

Fairyliz · 22/06/2024 17:53

Blimey I feel better now; I was feeling a bit guilty as I have about 10 waiting to be read. It appears that is not many at all.
Most of them have come from my local charity shop which sells three for £1; so less than a fivers worth.

NiceUnusualDifferent · 22/06/2024 17:58

Had no idea until I saw this thread and checked my kindle. 4 physical books and 1825 unread on my kindle😲

northernballer · 22/06/2024 18:25

About 5, but feel loads better now!

TeabySea · 22/06/2024 18:29

Over 200 on my "to read" list. About 45 in the house. Currently reading 5.

Hatty65 · 22/06/2024 18:32

This makes me feel better! I thought I was odd. I've probably got somewhere between 50 and 100 that I've not read yet. As others say, it doesn't stop me buying other books that look interesting.

I'll get round to them.

Hatty65 · 22/06/2024 18:36

@incessantpunditry I read about 5 books a week on average. I'm retired, and often read in bed for about 3 hours a night (or more if I'm into a book). I read very quickly and could read a whole book in one sitting if I'm really enjoying it. An average novel, if I went to bed at 7pm with it, I'd probably have finished it by midnight I would think. I don't really time myself.
