ASD and dietary requests

ASD child going on a residential school trip and the dietary request options have been asked for. I’ve never seen an dietary option for unseasoned food ( basically my child only eats bland food) yet throughout his life I don’t think I’ve ever had a request fulfilled (unless I’m in a restaurant and have specifically asked). It’s always attributed to picky eating but it’s beyond that. I don’t want them to go hungry. They won’t say anything and I doubt anyone will notice. Any strategies for dealing?

Good advice here.

Just as a general thing (I have an AuDHD 11 year old) just resign yourself that parenting our DC takes a huge bunch of extra admin.

I assume that you perhaps have not had the delightful experience of obtaining an EHCP?!

Anyway, hope your DD enjoys the residential. Mine loves a residential even if the admin is a bit extra.

i think at 12 op, your focus should be on helping your DD articulate her preferences

My sons autistic and it would be a big enough thing actually managing for him to be able to go on the school trip- stay away from home, manage his own stuff etc etc. without adding the extra complications of trying to use it as a time to help him learn to articulate own preferences- not the right time and place imo too much else already for the child to deal with. Learning to articulate preferences can be done in a more familiar environment
