Following the "filth foods" thread. What are people's decadent foods?

Bonus points for recipes and general ease.

Can you start with an example?

Zippydoop · 21/06/2024 23:09

Not really. I have very little energy for cooking and often don't each much due to being in severe pain. It would be great to have some inspiration from easy but fantastic meals I could make.

Not sure about decadent.. not entirely sure of what exactly you’re looking for but I’m going to share 2 recipes I LOVE.

one - good bread, like ciabatta. Garlic butter. Layer prosciutto, mozzarella and good quality beef tomato, grill.. salt pepper and balsamic glaze all over.

two - lemon creamy prawn chilli pasta..
linguine is my favourite.
lots of butter, garlic and sliced shallots. Lemon zest.. tbsp white wine vinegar or half a cup of white wine. Cook.
add red chilli. Parsley.
Juice of 1 lemon and cream fraiche.. mix.
add prawns, sliced red chillies
season salt and pepper. Add linguine and mix. Sooo good

Fried brie and avocado sandwich. Food of the gods.

MsLuxLisbon · 21/06/2024 23:17

That's if I'm in a rush, and want something glorious without effort. If I am putting the effort in, Koulibiac or Beef Wellington or seafood curry. Or grilled langoustines with homemade chips and aioli. Followed by strawberry pavlova.

Oldraver · 21/06/2024 23:21

Simple pasta with truffle cheeses

poetryandwine · 21/06/2024 23:22

Grilled salmon and asparagus with lashings of homemade hollandaise. A baguette on the side, followed by a perfect peach

Comedycook · 21/06/2024 23:25

Anything with truffle...even just the truffle oil drizzled over pasta

Smoked salmon

Belgian truffles

Any of the posh desserts from the supermarket....bonne maman type or gu.

Nice cakes and pastries from a patisserie....Paris brest is my ultimate indulgence

Sconeswithnutella · 21/06/2024 23:29

Pasta carbonara (I know it’s not traditional, but I use eggs, Parmesan and single cream) with chicken and broccoli, all mixed in. So rich and delicious.

SergeantDawkins · 21/06/2024 23:32

Fluffy ciabatta, expensive extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar.. tear, dip, eat, repeat.

UnctuousUnicorns · 21/06/2024 23:38

A large sweet potato, skin brushed with olive oil and sprinkled with salt, then baked till soft inside. Halve and mash the insides with mayonnaise. Food of the gods. 😋

Meadowwild · 21/06/2024 23:40

Most of mine aren't recipes. I think of good blue stilton with those loaf-shaped Hovis crackers as decadent because I only have them once a year at Christmas. Or Highland chocolatier chocolates.

For dinners - a good steak, fried in garlic oil, with thin crispy oven chips and purple sprouting broccoli drizzled in lemon butter. Had that recently and almost threw up - it was too rich after a few weeks of healthy eating!

TiddlyCove · 21/06/2024 23:42

Oysters. No recipe required, just straight from the shell.

squishee · 21/06/2024 23:42

Panzinella. Recipe: Toast bread. Tear into little pieces. Chop up a ripe tomato or 2 and a ball of mozzarella. Pour tomato juice over it all. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Sprinkle with onion powder, Italian seasoning, s&p to taste. Mix everything well. Add boiled egg or tuna and you have a light meal in just a few mins.

spikeandbuffy · 21/06/2024 23:49

This, you can do it with chicken or chicken sausages instead and have it with pasta or veg or mash, whatever you want
The sauce is so so good

Leftovers from any roast dinner, Sunday, Christmas, Easter etc. Meat or veggie. Chop roughly*, press into oven dish and bake at 180-200°C for 30 to 40 minutes. Serve with brown sauce, if liked. Bloody delish. 😋

*Sprinkle with grated cheese and dried mixed herbs if liked. Works very well.

A really nice fillet steak. We are seemingly unable to cook them properly in this house, so it's lovely to get a nice one out. Yum!

MonsteraMama · 22/06/2024 00:08

When I'm feeling decadent I make fondant potatoes instead of roasties. Bit more effort but sooo worth it.

Or carbonara with duck eggs instead of chicken is another really easy meal that tastes 🤌

Cowcheese · 22/06/2024 00:10

Cheese cubes dipped in honey and washed down with a fancy red wine

This 😍

A baguette with smoked trout and epoisses cheese
Probably about a million calories but amazing

NeverEnoughPants · 22/06/2024 05:58

For breakfast, proper full fat greek yogurt (none of that greek style nonsense), with berries/fruit, maybe some seeds, and maybe pancakes or waffles or granola. So easy (when you buy your pancakes, waffles or granola, although I do sometimes make my own) yet so good.

Dustyblue · 22/06/2024 06:08

Decadent to me is food I rarely eat because it's expensive!

Lobster, crab, great seafood in general
Truffles, omg it's true, the flavour is incredible but blimey, the cost
Spendy cheese
Crispy duck pancakes at a really good restaurant

For home though, it could mean a bowl of pasta with lashings of butter, pancetta, mushrooms & cheese.

Oh yeah, sprinkle a few salted capers on and I'm SO there 😍

Ineffable23 · 22/06/2024 06:18

Homemade smoked salmon pâté with really good bread is dangerously decadent.

Smoked salmon (trimmings are fine), cream cheese (can sub crème fraîche but carefully), lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, black pepper and dill/chives. Blitz it all in the food processor til done.

Eat with good bread, good butter and preferably a glass of white wine.

Areolaborealis · 22/06/2024 11:22

Vanilla pods. I used to indulge in these when I lived alone. I'd slice open, scoop out and add to porridge. I think their around £6 a pod so I can't justify the price now that I have DC.
