She’s mainly only triggered into episodes when things go wrong and from what I’ve read it’s usually random things that triggers suffers

Probably best talking to a psychologist about it.

I personally think it’s a diagnosis that’s way overused rather than getting to the root of the issue.

Only a psychiatrist can diagnose.

Rather depends on what you mean by ‘episodes’ and ‘triggers’? How old is DD? Is she seeing any sort of health professional at the moment??

BuffaloCauliflower · 21/06/2024 22:24

Every woman I know who was diagnosed with BPD (including myself) it was actually autism and/or ADHD. I’m entirely unconvinced by the entire diagnosis

Nursingadvice · 21/06/2024 22:27

My DD was apparently diagnosed at 18 after convincing herself for years she has it. I’m not convinced at all, I’m certain she has asd or adhd, maybe both. She also has some trauma.

I don’t know if the diagnosis is official or on paper anywhere but she tells me the psychiatrist said it to her.

Don't think wandering womb exists.

I know a man who was diagnosed with BPD then years later they changed the diagnosis to ADHD

Same as above. I have worked on MH units years ago and think a lot of those diagnosed with EUPD are actually on the ASD spectrum.

Do they have sensory or social issues?

I have also been with a guy who most definitely had undiagnosed EUPD and abandonment was a key thing that elicited bad reactions from him. He needed control over everything because of it. I think the route cause of someone with ASD wanting control over the environment is more of a sensory thing rather than fear of abandonment.

I have ADHD, but yes - I could have very easily been misdiagnosed with bpd - scary. Interesting to see so many others making this connection. There are 16 times the number of males as females diagnosed with ADHD - I guess this is where some of the missing girls are.
