Daughter 17.5 had a party. Didn't invite friend's boyfriend. Now friend's mum has ended friendship with me because she thinks I should not have allowed it. I feel they are adults and can choose their own party list. AIBU?

Seems like a lucky escape for you OP. Your ex ‘friend’ sounds ridiculous

bestbefore · 20/06/2024 17:06

😂 oh god some people are so odd!

Procrastinates · 20/06/2024 17:07

Goodness some people really will find anything to complain about. She does realise they are 17 right, not 7...

Soboredofdiettalk · 20/06/2024 17:09

😂😂 yanbu! And agree you've had a lucky escape from this friendship. How very odd of her

WhatNoRaisins · 20/06/2024 17:16

Sounds she needs to get a hobby or something. I can't imagine wanting to be involved in something like that when my kids are older.

parentfodder · 20/06/2024 18:48

Did friend attend? Surely it's up to your dd!

DelurkingAJ · 20/06/2024 18:50

For my 18th I doubt my parents could have named more than half my invited guests and would have had precisely no clue about relationships between them or with others.

Nope, friend didn't attend because boyfriend wasn't invited

Utterly ridiculous- lucky escape OP!

I cannot wait to not have to be in any way involved in my DC’s friendships, she sounds crazy.

Plantheads5 · 20/06/2024 23:39

Completely unhinged behaviour.

justaboutstayinafloat · 22/06/2024 18:32

Thanks all for your replies, nice to know I am not going mad and it is odd behaviour indeed. She was clearly never a true friend I guess.

I know someone who was like that when they were all younger (but still old enough to choose who they wanted) luckily she’s grown up now and is fun to be around again
