Do you think a private school adds value to your child's education?

The value it adds to my kids is that they can tolerate being there and have their pastoral and ND needs met. Personally I don't think that should be a luxury but apparently it is deemed so. I give zero fucks about nice buildings, Latin, rowing, grades achieved (possibly very few) or networking in later life. I do care about small classes, a great pastoral system and actual genuine flexibility to meet their needs. That SHOULD NOT be a luxury and it's pretty bloody telling that we've reached a point in our education system where it is. The VAT policy will do nothing to address the issue in bringing up state schools to a position where they can offer appropriate care to all children. That would take a much bigger, braver policy of investment and long term planning. But that's too hard. Much easier just to put up a headline grabbing policy thats easy to "sell" and hope desperately no-one asks in 5 years time where the money went.

This. Sick of debating this with people who think 'private' = Eton, when really it means an alternative environment where your kid can survive the school day.
