but I have just been called into our employment lawyers office to be informed that I wouldn't be entitled to SMP as I have only worked here for 24 weeks into the 15th week before the week my baby is due instead of the 26 needed. Now I knew this but have been repeatedly told by my boss that the company would pay me SMP.
So I know IABU but I am just a little peeved as that additional 90% for 6 weeks would have come in useful and I'm a little grrr at my boss (and HR who told him) for getting my hopes up.
I am of course entitled to MA which is better than nothing of course, still trying to find out whether KIT days, pensions, holiday are the same under MA as they are under SMP.

Just grrr.

ok now I am more pissed off, I have just been informed that my KIT days will NOT be paid by them pro-rata.
Up to know I have been quite happy to say yes I will work my KIT days
(they want me to provide cover for when my colleage is on holiday) as I thought the company were being generous over SMP but now, I don't think it's going to happen...

YANBU - you were given a verbal assurance & that is now being renaged on.
I'd be furious.

I think you need to challenge this - you were reassured by your boss that you'd get it.

naturalblonde · 08/04/2008 18:57

Might be cos they can't reclaim your mat pay if they pay it early.

But YANBU

Thanks for your replies, I've calmed down a bit. By law they don't have to pay me SMP, however there is no way I am working KIT days without being paid.
