To prefer cold food?

I can eat warm meals when appropriate, in company, etc. I do live alone now though so am afforded more choice.

I don't subscribe to any diet or exclusions, just my personal preference, and it isn't 100% of the time (I like cooked noodles and occasional soups).

But most of what I prefer is cold, such as salads, homemade flatbread, fruit, fish, turkey, etc. A typical day might involve me eating:
Flatbread with a decent peanut butter & jam, tuna salad with cucumber, radish, onion, spinach, rocket, tomato, herbs, avo, olives. I roast dry my own tomatoes and then jar them in oil and herbs - cold!
Dinners include similar with a cold potato salad, egg, etc, or Tapas style variations on slightly toasted bread. I do get a whole range of veg and fruits (love berries with either yoghurt or banana for supper) but do prefer meats to be cold.
Will often have a day or two per week where I grill a homemade veggie pizza topping with mozzarella, or have poached egg with avocado and cress, but it is largely cold over all. I drink milk but only in tea.

I know i can eat how I want, but I can't find much info about this particular preference online apart from raw foodies (no help) to exclusionary diets. I take a multi vitamin, so hope I am getting enough of what I need. It is the only method which calms my IBS, so large or hot meals seem to aggravate it. If there's something glaring missing I would love some pointers.

YANBU. I'm the opposite - love warm meals - but what you are describing sounds healthy, delicious and complete. Why should temperature matter?

Amsx · 18/06/2024 12:33

Hot or cold won't matter. Eat what you want it's not that deep

PessimisticPear · 18/06/2024 12:35

I live off of cold foods - salads, hummus, fruits, yoghurts, cottage cheese etc.

MrsSkylerWhite · 18/06/2024 12:36

You can eat what you like and makes you happy.

DappledThings · 18/06/2024 12:37

Temperature of food doesn't change its nutritional value. Why would you be missing anything?

I don't really have a preference. I've yet to find any leftovers that weren't just as good cold the next day as reheated. I just don't like food too hot. Hate plates being warmed so food stays too hot to eat for too long.

Bjorkdidit · 18/06/2024 12:43

It's what you eat and how much that's important. Food isn't necessarily more or less nutritious, filling or calorific when served hot or cold.

HoneysuckleYears · 18/06/2024 12:54

Well it's good to know I'm not alone! Grin

I had never thought much of it until recently, when talking with a friend who batch cooks hot meals such as curries, soups, etc. Then I started to realise that I tend to avoid hot meals, even though many of them are so tasty! It likely is an IBS thing though.
I am glad to hear it sounds ok on the nutrition front. I know some would call it boring.

Me too. I can't wait for the children to finally leave home so I can stop cooking All. The. Hot. Meals.
