To ask whether anyone uses a steamer instead of an iron?

And looking for recommendations. Thanks! I have a physical disability which causes pain, fatigue, etc and I feel like it might be easier.

Yes! I only use it for the clothes I am about to wear though, so not routinely steaming whole load of laundry or bedlinen. DH is steaming his own shirts without any issues.
I have (checks notes) Tefal IT8460G0 Upright Garment Steamer Pro Style Care 1800w. Can't say I would recommend that particular model, but they are all more or less the same I think. I like that this one has BIG tank.

I’ve just got one so I’m interested in the replies!

@Chypre Thanks! Is it relatively light weight?

Yes! We don't even own an iron. £35 from Argos, best thing ever Grin

@FairTurtle it is stationary, so the power unit and the tank are standing on the floor. The nozzle is light weight, yes.

I had one but it really didn't get out enough creases for me to get rid of my iron. And then it stopped working - possibly becasue of hard water, but I don't know. I hadn't used it much. It was Tefal. But it was not a huge one with a big tank on the floor - it was a hand held one with a small tank attached to the steamer. I wonder if a floor based tank would have worked better.

I'd much prefer a steamer as I don't have much space and getting the ironing board out etc is always a faff, but it just didn't make things look smart enough on the few occasions I wanted to iron (which is rare, so usually only times when it does actually need to be particularly smart/unwrinkled!).

Maybe ok for general freshening up, but not for actual creases, or for things like collars and cuffs that come out a bit shrunken and need stretching and smoothing back to normal. It could also be the types of fabric I was using it on I guess.
