Feel cosy and warm and homely?

my house feels so… not cosy. I am lazy with it, I know I am. I currently don’t have a duvet cover on my bed and havent for a few weeks. I have only one pillow. Only one bedside light. I don’t have a sofa just two chairs. I am awful at spending money and feel like I can’t invite anyone round really. What small things would make a difference?

How about some large-ish cushions so you/ your guests can sit on the floor?

Google "cosy bedroom ideas" pick one you like and literally buy it, couple of bits a month until you've replicated the room

Also cats... I find cats make a room more cosy and comfortable just by their presence.

Nice smells are important to me. I bought one of those plug in diffuser things that changes colour so it's smells nice in here and I can have ambient lighting. And the place being hoovered- weird I know. It also gives me peace if there isn't a lot of stuff all over the place.

What do you WANT your space to look like?

How much work have you done on your self-worth, are you super kind to yourself like you would be to someone else?

Compassion towards you and connection with others would be the foundation steps for me. Then it would be easier to move, create and nourish my body. When I gave up on that it became even more important to have a nice home but until these things were in place it did not happen.

It's hard. Extra so if there is a trauma background, ND or poor mental health in the mix. The number one task here even if or if not, is be nice to you.

A lot of people overestimate what they can do in a day and underestimate what can be achieved in a year. It probably won't be a quick fix so have a plan for days where it goes wrong and plan how you will get back on to it.

Two minutes a day of uncomfortable action is the commitment I would start with on bad days and hopefully you'll be watching your effort snowball in time.

Cosy is subjective.
I am generally told by people how comfortable they feel in my house. As in mentally comfortable. But for few it's not.

I have different shades of light green, wood and plants with bright colours thrown in via wall art, cushions and other accessories. That's how I like it. Doesn't mean you would too.
Look through some different style. I am personally bit into bohemian, with mix of aspects of modern, cottage and industrial 😂

Just pick what you like, colours you like and have a bit of fun with it.
I kept sofa neutral grey as well.
Essentially something like this pic but with light pistachio walls, no rug.

Pro tip is do what YOU like. It's your home!
