Ear piercing

My 6 year old has wanted her ears pierced for over a year now. I have always said when she’s 10 but I’m actually not sure now she has asked so sensibly and so often. What age have your children been for ear piercing and where is the best place take them if I waver from 10 ?

@Weallnamechangesometimes go and see a decent piercer for advice.

I would even consider it till at least 11

You can't give informed consent at 6.

I’d say 16

I wouldn't. You've said 10. All you're teaching her is that pester power works and you're flakey

My DD had hers done at 10 and I had to hunt to find a piercer who would do it that age. The others closer to me required you to be 12 or over. I think they need to be able to have an independent conversation with the piercer about positioning and care without it being something that mum will take care of.

My daughter got her's done when she was 7. I was forced to get mine done as a young child and waited until she asked to get them done.

I got mine done as my 6th birthday present. I'd been asking for ages. I could definitely consent - I remember it clearly! I was a very sensible (boring) child though. I think these days a reputable place wouldn't do them that young so just look around and check your school policy. But you know your child best as to whether they are old enough or not.

Fyiw I had mine recently pierced (again, as hadn't worn earrings in a few years and they had closed up) and the cheapest I could find in my area was £50 plus £10 follow up.

Not flakey but thanks.
