Posting here for traffic. How do I attach an email to an email I’m sending if the initial email is in a chain of emails sent and replied to ie I want to attach an email that I have previously sent but not the whole chain of emails sent and their replies.
Thanks!

*if - should be if in title, not of.

Do you have the original email in your sent/deleted items?

Carock · 16/06/2024 09:43

Find the original email you sent in your sent items and drag it to the email you are currently sending

choccybiskets · 16/06/2024 09:46

Go to the email that you want to send on and choose the forward option rather than reply. That email will appear at the bottom of the new email to be sent. Check first before sending. Hope that makes sense Grin

Thanks! So, I’ll go to my sent box.
Sorry- I’m a technophobe- so if I drag it, do I need 2 screens open? I’m just working on my laptop.
Also it’s quite a few emails I need to attach, but all in different chains….so still not sure how this will work.
Thanks!

If it's in the Outlook desktop application you can click on attach and then select the option to attach an item instead of a file, and then in items it should give you the option to select an email.

Sewannoying · 16/06/2024 10:59

I would suggest going to sent items to find the original, right click on the original and select copy, go to the new email, right click and select paste. (Or however you normally copy and paste - I prefer keyboard shortcuts myself, but that might be more complicated if you’re not used to it.)

It sounds like these steps would work (maybe other solutions are more efficient).

In Outlook
Find the email(s) you want to 'attach'
click on it to pop it out to be its own window
Save as .... option, save the 'email' to somewhere sensible.
Repeat find pop out save as ... as required.
Go to the most recent email that needs to be forwarded with all those other emails attached.
Click forward & add email addresses to send it to
Attach the various 'other email' msgs to the forwarded msg
Send

Thanks- it seems quite tricky. I’m good at attaching documents but was unsure about emails. I thought you might just be able to click the paper clip and then click the email…

You can, there's just an intermediate step. You need to click the paper clip and choose attach item and then select the email.

You can save the relevant emails on your desktop as .msg files and then attach them from there just like a doc if you find that easier?

I find this the easiest way to do what you are wanting to.....

Click 'Forward' to the last email in the thread.
This then allows you to delete any dialogue / additional messages

UnpackingBooksFromBoxes · 16/06/2024 14:38

You can even right click the email in the sent items to copy and paste it into the other email.

Sunnyrainsnow · 16/06/2024 17:18

Thanks so far!- I would normally just forward but the problem this time is that it’s multiple emails I need to attach.
I wonder if I should save to docs or desktop as above and then attach as documents.
Ideally though, I just want the emails all sitting in a line at the top of the email I’m sending

Screenshot using snipping tool then paste into email as pictures

Sunnyrainsnow · 16/06/2024 21:09

MissScarletttheBallroom- so if I click the paper clip then double click on the email, it will attach? Thanks!
