I know it has been done before but I would love a recap as I had so much fun reading last time! What are the maddest/ wildest/most interesting threads you recall on here?

OP posts:
Springchickenonion · 16/06/2024 01:26

There was one where the op insisted it was the annual night for cats being in danger or something not too long ago

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 16/06/2024 01:30

My all-time favourite thread is "Omg! Such anality from PIL" in classics. The ones with things men say during sex, one of them is called Penetration Man and Other stories or something like that.

More recently the M&S superfan who counseled other shoppers on cuts of steak, but I think those were app deleted.

PeachMartini · 16/06/2024 07:52

Someone will be along soon to say Snapped and Farted, or the Mexican house thief! Both I was a bit meh about actually

However, I remember one where an OP had gone on holiday and her friend brought no money and made her pay for everything and we were getting live updates! I always wonder if she got her money back 😂

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 16/06/2024 08:14

@PeachMartini is that the one where it was all inclusive and every time she went to the bar or buffet or to get a towel the friend would make her get something for her too?

fiestaforevertilnow · 16/06/2024 08:58

I have a shocking memory for threads but I do recall the 'where is my...' thread where the OP had lost her ironing board! I think they lived in a tiny one bed flat and it had simply disappeared.

I was following simply to see if I could get away with doing the same...

Utter made-up crappy nonsense.

And I don't even mind the odd made-up thread if it's lols.

That was when (an already tanking) MN took a nosedive.

Yep. And led absolutely to a sea change in the demographic. Brought the Herberts and people who probably wet themselves at the mention of tits and dicks flooding in.

If fatballs was real, I'll have one for my tea. Plus Mexican wotsit, SpanGran, Patios, Korean ladies and Sistine Chapel.

Most of the "hilarious" threads in the last decade have been written to see just how gullible people are and read like really bad slapstick.

That'll be the M&S troll.

“I poo’d on my skirt at work” is in classics and well worth a read.

There was a thread that stretched to one or two more about satanic imagery in music, it was so interesting and just kept going and going.

ElsieMc · 16/06/2024 09:25

The best one was the poster who ran a Saturday morning tuition class. A man brought his son, had a McDonalds, then used their loo to take a crap. It apparently stunk the building out and it followed her desperate attempts to stop him crapping. Might have been made up, but gave me a good laugh....

ElsieMc · 16/06/2024 09:27

Oh and creepiest was the couple who bought a house in a village and the locals were behaving like something from the Wicker man. Hanging round outside in the dark and making lots of noise etc. Very weird. Apparently some local family had wanted to buy it and there was resentment.

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 16/06/2024 09:28

No doubt many threads are made up but if you've ever worked a public-facing job you'll know the levels of crazy and stupidity in the general population are quite high!

Anyways, penis beaker brought me to mumsnet so apologies for lowering the tone/contributing to the destruction of this forum Wink

Spidermama’s macaroon incident, whereby a bystander called the police having witnessed a tantrum by the small daughter… suspected abduction by her DH as he was getting her into his car.

The police called Spidermama (who was at home) to verify that the man in question was her husband , the kids Dad. She spoke with her DH who said the tantrum was caused by him following through with discipline: if the child did not behave in the shop she would not be allowed to choose a treat from the bakery. She desperately wanted a macaroon but had not behaved.

Spidermama explained this to the police, and heard the officer relay the message: “All clear, it seems to be a macaroon incident”

Also the thread where a MNer arrived home to find her kettle missing. A hilarious thread trying to solve the mystery / crime.

HulaChick · 16/06/2024 10:08

There was one about her husband being dressed as a crayon at a hotel & she came back and found him snagging another man (I think) dressed as something equally ridiculous. Have lost the thread but am dying to know the final outcome.

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 16/06/2024 16:57

@HulaChick and a poster asked if the other man was dressed as a crayon sharpener! The thread was deleted for being fake, I think they should have left it just for the jokes.
