To want round soap

I buy bar soap because we try to cut back on plastic packaging etc and now i just like it.

But... i hate large rectangular bars with sharp corners. They are so difficult & uncomfortable to manipulate in your hands. It takes loads of washes to get the corners gone. All the bars i find that i like the smell of are like this, in cardboard boxes. I'm sure they stack up nicely for shipping etc.... but they are not what i want.

I want small round soaps wrapped in paper like you used to get in hotels.

Why can't i find a good selection of round soaps with no corners?

Quietly hoping millions of people post telling me im wrong and providing tips on lovely round soap.

If you Google ‘hotel soap’ you get loads of options

The Roger & Gallet soap stays perfumed all the way through unlike some others that get that soapy smell. We have the rose and the Jean Marie Farinha here.

Stainglasses · 12/06/2024 23:33

Yes roger and gallet

FairisleFairy · 12/06/2024 23:37

I like soap but do you find it leads to greater build up of gunk in the plug hole?
must be the fats & oils in it

Mysore do a lovely round sandalwood soap but the bar is 150g so its not small.

I've been using Suma's glycerine soaps for years now (they rebranded the soaps and shampoos to 'Alter/Native' a couple of years ago), they come in various scents - I prefer the lavender, and the grapefruit. No packaging whatsoever, not even paper!

They tend to sell through small shops, but you can also get them online. During lockdown I ordered a box of 12 online because the only shop who sold them was - locked down.

Pears soap is oval. The greeney / blue one is really nice.

Vegetable peeler round the edges. Save the peelings as bath sprinkles ✨

would love to know the answer to this @Pin0cchio (apt name?) considering I found a dozen with one Google search

Maybe they work for roger & gallet 🤣🤣

Bromley (or Bronley?) used to do loads of scented soaps, including lavender, in oval shapes that aren't too big and are comfortable to hold. Try those, cheaper than Roger et Gallet I think!

Princesspollyyy · 13/06/2024 15:02

Dove soap is a lovely oval shape. And also Pears soap. I use both of those, no sharp corners.

@Pin0cchio I have to be really careful with soap as I have stupidly sensitive skin.

Some years ago, my lovely MIL bought me some Dalit soap for Christmas. These soaps come from India, and help a minority community I like to try and support. They don't irritate my skin, smell wonderful, and are (for me) an affordable treat. They lather very nicely, are circular, and come wrapped in paper with a cardboard container. I'd say they are palm sized, as they last me a good few months ... well, they did, my kids now like to use them too.

They do candles in cute clay pots too, but I've not tried them yet - they are too expensive for me. I've bought a single tea light, which smelt lovely - but (silly of me I know) I am 'saving it'. Since getting suspected long Covid my sense of smell has mostly gone. It's silly of me to think it might come back.
