Prolapse help (warning TMI)

Went to the dr last week as I could feel a bulge coming out of my vagina when I went to the toilet. She said she couldn't see anything but due to other symptoms she would put me on some medication for stress incontinence and refer me to urogyneacology. She didn't say how long the referral would take.
Fast forward to this week and I now also have a bulge coming from my anus and I'm finding it really difficult to open my bowels. Went and saw a different GP who said she can see that my uterine wall is prolapsed and I also have a rectal prolapse. She said she will put me on laxatives until I can see a specialist as going to the toilet is just going to keep making it worse.
I don't want to take laxatives as I work in an environment where it's not easy to get up and keep going to the toilet and I'd be terrified of having an accident. I'm also quite worried about the fact that I can't seem to open my bowels. She said if I feel the prolapse bulge to stop trying to go or to try to hold it in place.
I really don't want to live like this for the next year or however long it will take for an appointment but I also can't afford to go private!

Not really sure why I'm posting other than to get other peoples experiences. I'm so stressed out and down about it, it's really affecting my mental health.

Can you afford to see a women's health physio? I was able to reverse my prolapse through exercise, supported by a fantastic physio.

I also used online resources. Hab-it is excellent and very good value.

I'd also recommend doing some research into how to lift without putting pressure on your pelvic floor, as small modifications like this really helped me.

And a good gentle laxative should just loosen your stools rather than make you need to go out of the blue and urgently.

Splinting when pooing can help. It might be worth asking for a referral to women's physio to see if they can offer suggestions as the waiting list is often quicker than gynae.

You might not need laxatives but make sure you don't get constipated as straining etc can make a prolapse worse. Flowers

Thanks for the advice. I have been under a women's physio before and unfortunately it hasn't helped. Does anybody know if I was able to pay for a private consultation would I then be able to get treatment on the nhs? Just thinking of how I could shorten the wait times even by a little bit

@user2910182 I had a 40 week wait for nhs gynae so I had to pay private to get seen as my problem was impacting on daily life. Private gynae consultant (£200 initial appt) then said I needed a scan as he thought my womb was 'bulky' and needed further investigations. I asked him if he would write a letter to my gp for the scan as I couldn't afford £500 to do that privately. I laid it bare that I was actually skint and had lent money to get that initial appt! He was the consultant at the nhs trust too which maybe helped? Anyway yes they can refer back to the nhs for recommended treatments/investigations.

Whilst you're awaiting a more definitive treatment plan have you heard about reducing the prolapse by applying granulate sugar for about 15minutes, often they will reduce after this.
