Hi , long story short,me and my cousins birthday is on weekend . Mine is sat hers is Sunday , she wants to go out for hers on Saturday with some of her mates and invited me . My issue is that I don't really fancy going out , it's my day and I just want to spend like a day out with family and some food . I don't really want to go out drinking . Also they are going out to one place I particularly don't like ,I feel too old for ,but she likes that place. Anyways she can do what she likes but then I don't want to ,it's actually my birthday. I think lots of girls are not coming , and now she is on my case that I need to come but I really don't want but I don't want to be rude and fall out . I kind of feel she only now begging me because there is barely anyone coming . So not sure how to politely say no ?
Also I have told her that I don't have so much money to spend on night out ,I rather spend that money on smth else x

Just say it’s your birthday and you have plans.

I.used to be such a push over and friends knew it. They'd ask me constantly until I agreed to go out. You have to be firm because it's your birthday, you only get one a year! Say no, it's my birthday. Then ignore the other messages. Mute her if you have to. Just stop engaging with her about it. Enjoy your birthday 🎂 🥳

She keeps saying u have to come , any time I find a reason not to she finds an answer for it 😩
I even said to her that she only asking me now because there is barely anyone coming but still she isn't taking as a no

She can’t have an answer for ‘I don’t want to; it’s not my thing’, though. I’d stop making ‘excuses’ as people tend to offer solutions, just say what you said here: Sat is your birthday and you want to do XX with ABC. You won’t be joining her in the evening, but hope she has fun with her friends.

Hi xxx
do you think lots of people can’t make it because it’s an expensive venue? I know I can’t afford to go. If you chose somewhere a bit cheaper I can certainly pop along for one early drink.
i can’t do hangovers anymore. You’ll realise when you get to my age!! X

Just say “So sorry I can’t make it. Have a fab time. Come around for dinner next weekend or let’s meet for coffee (or whatever you want to show her you want to see her).” If she pushes just say you really don’t want to, you can’t cope. She needs to be aware of other people’s feelings.
