When did you feel baby move with an anterior placenta?

Can’t wait to feel my little girl move. I’m 17+4. I thought I felt something a few days ago but it was a one off feeling so maybe something else! This is my first baby ☺️

Well over 20 weeks I think.

graceinc22 · 11/06/2024 20:16

The first movement was at 19 weeks exactly but it was faint. For weeks it was very pale - eg if my husband put his hand on my stomach then this was too much of a sensation and so I couldn’t then feel the baby. I think the movements only became clear much more like 23ish weeks (can’t remember exactly). Now 31 weeks and things are very clear! I still don’t get kept awake at night from kicking though so I don’t know if the placenta is still absorbing a bit

RomeoRivers · 11/06/2024 20:16

I’m 20 weeks now and only just feeling kicks in the last week, 3rd baby.

yumyumyumy · 11/06/2024 20:16

Second pregnancy and I'm 21 weeks with anterior placenta. Felt movement at 19 weeks. Much later with my first pregnancy though. Anything up to 24 weeks is normal

Hightideattheseaside · 11/06/2024 20:16

I was 18.5 weeks with my first. Bit later with my second. Was starting to worry but then felt a tiny flutter Christmas Eve ☺️

PositiveModelling · 11/06/2024 20:18

I started to feel baby #1 (anterior placenta) around the same time as baby #2 (posterior placenta), flutters a wee bit before 20 weeks and then increasing more. The main difference for me was the way the movements felt. Baby #1 it was like I felt her extremities - jabs from her feet and hands - but baby #2 it was all over.

Lyra87 · 11/06/2024 20:27

Had an anterior placenta and it was 21 or 22 weeks before I felt anything, which is normal with an anterior placenta.

JLT24 · 11/06/2024 20:28

I was 19 + 5 weeks when first feeling flutters. Felt full kicks around 21 weeks. Low lying anterior placenta.

Huifen · 11/06/2024 20:30

24 weeks with my anterior placenta pregnancy. I freaked out as my first want anterior and had been feeling her from 17ish weeks but all was well

Mintchocco · 11/06/2024 20:31

Not until around 22ish weeks and then it wasn't really obvious until nearer 24/25 weeks.

thecatsthecats · 11/06/2024 20:33

About 16 weeks, somehow.

My placenta was anterior and obscenely huge, but my son kicked like a rugby pro. Some babies wriggle and roll more than they kick, and early on there's still plenty of room for both without you feeling anything.

Iloveburgerswaymorethanishould · 11/06/2024 20:39

1st baby was 15 weeks low placenta (though was very slim and was only 15)
2nd was 16 weeks (again slim was 18)
3rd was around 18/19 weeks low placenta again
4th I was 13 weeks, being scanned and said “bloody hell” as the scanner watched her kicking….. then when 15 weeks my
friend felt her by hand… visible movements soon after…..
5th….. anterior placenta. Felt slight flutters at about 21/22 weeks. Had a bit (lot lol) more weight on than with the others. Felt something kick ish by about 26/27 weeks. Felt by partner at about 30 weeks and didn’t see my tummy move until the week he was born (34+6).

Didnt realise how much an anterior placenta affected feelings, think they got sick of me turning up as I hadn’t felt him move!! He was also back to back so should have been pounding me stupid!!!

  • always get reduced movement checked regardless of placenta position!!!!! Just saying!!!

This. My 4th wasn’t a kicker as such. He was lying transverse until 34 weeks. Was booked in for a section at 37 weeks as I go early and fast and they didn’t want to risk me starting and getting in any struggles…. 35+6 (a Saturday) I literally felt the worst rolling pain in my tummy. Had no idea what was wrong. Went to sleep that night feeling sick. Woke up in the morning with back ache… went to hospital as I have kidney issues and the back pain is usually
a a symptom and he was born 16 mins after I arrived.

Rolls and flips are defo easier to feel. Even my youngest I could feel moving positions rather than punching kicking, more distinctly.

OMGsamesame · 11/06/2024 20:45

21w

Newsenmum · 11/06/2024 20:46

24 then 20 weeks, sorry 🤦‍♀️

Chevybaby · 11/06/2024 20:48

Anterior placenta and didn't feel anything til like 30 weeks! Bonkers. Visited hospital a few times and all vitals were perfect. I actually convinced myself she must just be a really chill zen baby... couldn't have been more wrong 🤣🤣🤣

PrincessHoneysuckle · 11/06/2024 20:48

17 or 18 for me.21 for dh with hand on belly.

Specialkp · 11/06/2024 20:54

I actually can’t remember exactly but it was definitely after 19- 20 weeks. Had had a long/difficult journey to parenthood so it was a very anxious time! I didn’t feel her much at all for most of the pregnancy, only when I was in the bath or lying down quietly (did that a lot!). My husband never felt her kick at all, but I only got the opportunity to let him once! Then it all went quiet again towards the end.
I’m just glad I knew early that I had an anterior placenta from a private scan, or I’d have been besides myself…

FizzyStream · 11/06/2024 20:59

About 19 weeks for me. Then always got kicks to the side / around my ribs!

Escapaid · 11/06/2024 21:27

18 weeks

pinkyspromises · 11/06/2024 21:45

I think around 20-22 weeks

It was swimming first and spicy curry the second timr

PollyPeep · 11/06/2024 21:55

15 weeks with my first, 11 weeks with my second (!). I'm quite slim and I think that made it easier to feel and see throughout pregnancy. Towards the 30 week mark, the kicks and rolls were clearly visible even though the placenta area.

oberst · 11/06/2024 22:01

About 22 weeks

Same, I had anterior placentas with both of mine and felt around 15/16 weeks, I didn’t know it was a thing to not feel them until later on so this thread is an eye opener!

WhenSunnyGetsBlue · 11/06/2024 22:18

19 or 20 weeks. Then she never stopped moving
