To go for dinner somewhere DH doesn’t love

There’s things he will eat but he doesn’t think the food is amazing, so he’s always a bit ambivalent about it

I have a pregnancy craving for one item on the menu which you can’t get anywhere else. They don’t do takeout. He suggested we can go there if I want but is it a bit mean to go with him when it’s not his preferred choice? I could always wait and go with a friend or family

YABU - go with someone else later in the week
YANBU - you’re pregnant, DH can deal with it!

I’d either go on my own or find someone else to go with.
Being pregnant is not a good reason to go somewhere for dinner that only one of you is really into when you have other choices and go out to eat regularly!
What are you craving? I craved ice, dishwasher tablets and wet plaster (building material, not a soggy blood stained rag 😂). Missed out on some seriously good stuff!

You’d go on your own?

themoaningwitch · 11/06/2024 17:30

He's doing a nice thing, like I'm sure you would, if the roles were reversed.

No she wouldn’t. She said “I’m posting because if the tables were turned, I wouldn’t want to go anywhere I was meh about and spend money on it. I’d probably be really vocal about it too”

Why is that a surprise? People (even women) go out for food alone loads. She could go when he’s doing something else, perhaps.

TheChosenTwo · 11/06/2024 17:35

@Goldenbear you’ve asked that as though it’s a completely alien thing to do!

Just go he can find something Just tell him the baby wants it 😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/06/2024 17:37

What do you crave ?

restaurantqs · 11/06/2024 14:38

He absolutely hasn’t. I’m posting because if the tables were turned, I wouldn’t want to go anywhere I was meh about and spend money on it. I’d probably be really vocal about it too

Would you not ? Why not that's a bit off isn't it if your husband fancied <whatever> you wouldn't go because it's meh !

Jk987 · 11/06/2024 17:49

Your husband is surely not the only person you can go for dinner with. Go with someone who'll enjoy it.

Lilacdew · 11/06/2024 17:50

Go and enjoy what you are craving. Pregnancy cravings are often to do with needing specific minerals for growing the baby, so you are doing him a double service by growing his baby and ensuring it gets the right micronutrients.

I bet you'd shut up and cope with it if he was growing your baby.

You are literally growing his baby, go to the restaurant and enjoy it guilt free, he can suck it up.

This 100%

We went! :)

I need to know where it was! And what you ate!

You’re pregnant. He can get in the bin if he’s going to put his wishy washy feeling about a restaurant before your craving. In. The. Bin.

Dishwasher tablets?? I thought they were toxic? - please tell me you just liked the smell and didn't actually ingest
But I agree with you about ice, an odd pregnancy craving but so satisfying to crunch. Also I would get through a packet of watercress every day. I quite like watercress these days but then DH had to go out and buy me a packet every single day. But not more or I'd just eat it all up in one go. I may have had low iron or folate levels...

He said he was happy to go. The OP was the one who said she’d be annoyed about going if the tables were turned. No need to put him in the bin, he had no issues with going.

MrsSkylerWhite · 11/06/2024 21:00

Oh come on. You have to tell what it is! 😁

He didn’t do any such thing. He always said to go. She just felt bad because she knew he wasn’t keen. They went.
