Phones in Schools

Goodness Rishi Sunak most schools have this policy or at least switched off in their bag.

I don't know a single school where kids are texting and tik toking away in lessons.

It's it is anything like my school parents are not a fan of them not being allowed at certain times anyway. A mast went down at the school I work at cue loads of complaints about parents not being able to get in touch or track their child on their way home.

I think most schools deal with it well anyway and Sunak is making a noise about something that is already done.🤦‍♀️

I agree. Most of the schools already have that policy and it has to be switched off in the bag or left in reception or some designated drawer
But for the return trip from school, they need phones to be switched on for their way back home for security

Sunak wants an order before elections

Agreed. At my DS's school they aren't allowed to get them out once they're inside school gates. I'm sure some do during lunch break but they're not texting in lessons!

Wish mine would ban them ..

Parents are texting their kids during lessons at my school.

Phones are banned but kids are sneaky.

At ours they hand them in at form and get them back at home time.

At step kids until they got an inadequate Ofsted they were allowed them all the time, we saw videos of fights of teachers , horrific. The new trust is trying to get them into bags all day but of course that isn’t being enforced because most kids are refusing all the changes!

It sets the tone of a school and their priorities and approach and phones have no place in the classroom.

At our local school they are allowed as long as they are “being grown up” about their phones, and using the phone for a good reason. Apparently this means the back half of the class is on YouTube/tiktok constantly and if challenged can just say they got their phone out to use as a calculator or to check the timetable.
