Should I be worried that my baby (6M) has gone off of her bottles?

Hello,

So my baby who is 6 months has gone off of her bottles for some reason. She is still drinking milk but less often and probably half of what she usually drinks. She's being fussy with eating solids too.

Should I be worried? She's still having wet and dirty nappies so I know it's not something too serious but I'm just wondering what I should do or what could be causing this?

She's also been quite irritable and has woken up around every 1.5 ish hours at night.

Thanks

Could she be teething?

TiredMumE · 11/06/2024 14:12

Has she started on solids?

I'd take her to the Dr if she's irritable - sore throat/ tonsils maybe?

It could possibly just be teething but if you are worried I would speak to your health visitor.

Try some teething powder or Calpol 20 mins before giving a bottle or try different types of sippy cups that don't fit pressure on the sore gums.

I have no advice - but just to say my 6 month old massively reduced milk/food intake too - absolutely fine in himself so I’m just going with it. I think their growth slows a little bit

My youngest hasn’t had any milk since she was 6 months old and she’s perfectly fine!

Most likely teething, have a feel round their gums.

Teething or tonsillitis

Sounds like teething, completely normal teething behaviour. It is usually the bottom two to come in first, a grey line will appear just before the tooth cuts through the gum. They can come in a different order though, my girl got canines at 4 months and sometimes the teethove then stop before cutting.

Bottle refusal is really common when teething/unwell. My eldest was terrible for it. Also - if your DD is getting tired whilst having a feed I’d look into upping her test size as babies can get quite frustrated putting in a lot of effort for a feed. My 11 week old was refusing to finish a feed shortly after vaccines.
