Hi, really hoping someone can help. One of my best friends at uni is Muslim and I want to get her a gift for Eid next week. Just something small but meaningful. Does anyone have any ideas of what would be a nice gift? I was thinking maybe flowers or food but no idea what would be good (obviously halal + alcohol free) would it be weird to get her a card for it or are cards for Eid not really a thing? TYSM in advance! 😀

Chocolate or chocolate covered dates is always a lovely gift to receive. That's very sweet of you. Cards are lovely too

I'm not Muslim (sorry for hijacking) but many of my TAs are - I usually do a little box of chocolates and a note saying "Eid Mubarak".

TakeMe2Insanity · 09/06/2024 21:00

Cards, flowers etc are all lovely. Thank you!

Cards yes, you'll find some online. But yes to flowers n chocolate, anything would be well received.

Lots of shops do Eid cards now. Chocolate or candle are usually nice.

Hi,

Muslim woman here.
What a lovely thought!

Chocolates are always a great idea. You can get cards that say Eid Mubarak.

If you want to be a bit extra you can get an olive tree planted on behalf of your friend. As Muslims we believe in an afterlife and planting trees that provides food and shelter for decades to come gives us extra reward (this is called Sadaqah/ act of kindness).

These are £20 and provides a family with income for years to come.
The charity will email you a certificate as well as post you a paper copy. I tend to get a frame for this and wrap it up as a gift for the person on whose behalf I've bought it.

I have no affiliations with the charity. It's just the one I personally use.

This thread comes up every Eid and I always give the same advice.

Only you know your friend, so only you know the sort of gift she'd like, just as you might buy her something for her birthday.

Yes, you can get Eid cards both online and in all card shops.

Does she wear a hijabs? A nice shawl/ hijabs would be nice. Doesn't have to be really expensive or anything.
