I know this isn't AIBU I'm sorry!

I really need help picking a car. I don't have any friends who know much about cars and my dad and uncle who knew their stuff both died a few years ago, I'm getting overwhelmed with internet searching.

I currently drive a Ford Fiesta and it's on its last legs.

I'd like a similar size car (no bigger) that's reliable, economical, good for country lanes and occasional low floods (lane occasionally floods at the bottom, I live on a steep hill).

Enough room for x2 medium dog crates in the back - if I need to fold down back seats that's fine.

Help!!

Another vote for a Seat Leon FR. Handling and performance is good, brakes are the best I’ve ever used, lots of tech, it’s essentially a VW Golf so reliability excellent. My other car is a BMW 5 series and it doesn’t feel too much of a poor relation which is brilliant given a BMW is a proper drivers car. That was my benchmark.

I had a Kamiq Monte Carlo, with bells and whistles. 1.4 I think. Liked the driving position, the auto gearbox, easy to drive.

CitroenC3? I’ve just bought our third one in a row. Love them. Very roomy for a small hatchback.

I have a Seat Leon Estate. It doesn't look like an ugly estate car either. Doesn't feel like a tank to drive.

Really comfortable to drive, good MPG, and I love my DAB radio. Scores high in reliability and driver satisfaction.

go and look at kia/huyndia and totyota cars I think they come with a 7 year warranty

The new Vauxhall Corsa look fab!

My mum has a vauxhall mokka x, the salesman said it's basically an astra footprint raised off the ground, which might suit the flooding without being big! She loves hers and I think they're lighter on the pocket than the skodas

I would recommend a Kia Stonic or Yaris Cross. Both fab cars.

Mazda 3. Deceptively large boot space, handles low floods well. The GT model has heated seats and steering wheel which were a must for me.

Toyota Yaris Cross hybrid. Fantastic size, super smooth to drive, good height for flooding, lots of tech as standard, reliable + economical.
