To ask how to make money from my Facebook group

Anyone with a large FB group make any money from it.
How do you attract advertisers and sponsorship that's the sort of thing I mean.
I know this is possible if you have a large group.
No links please, or telling me to Google. I know that. I was wanting to hear if anyone has done it and any tips?
TIA.
No I won't be advertising it on here. Just want to open a conversation.

What sort of group is it?

Its going to be very different advice if it's a weightloss group or a bereavement group or a car group or book club.

How many people are in the group?

PassingStranger · 07/06/2024 21:28

It's none of those?
Do you have a group then?

I was considering it myself and I’m thinking I will just sell on local buy/sell Facebook pages

StripedTomatoes · 07/06/2024 21:35

How do you make money from a Facebook group? Advertisers are going to be paying Facebook, not you. Confused

I did, but became unwell and came off SM entirely.

As I said, without some details it's going to be hard to advise, the way I made money probably wouldn't be suitable for your page, there are a few different ways to monetise, but totally depends on the group.

PassingStranger · 07/06/2024 21:59

I'm not going to say and I wouldn't want to be seen as advertising it anyway.
So that's the end of that.
Unless anyone else has got any info.

It really does depend on the group

For example my company has helped businesses monetise groups by

  • launching memberships with exclusive content off the back of them (works when it’s a professional type group).
  • sell merchandise
  • creat paid for events and meetup
  • sponsorships (you need a large very targeted group for this).
  • launch a directory off the back of a group

there are a lot of ways to monetise a group, but it’s not super simple and hugely depends on the nature of it

I'm surprised anyone would advise you. You are not exactly polite.

I’m sure they didn’t mean to come across that way so don’t start

Sell services/ consultations

Ladylalaboo1 · 08/06/2024 01:37

Depends what services you are offering. If you mean just from Facebook groups alone you could rack up a certain amount of followers by creating ads to promote your group ( this would cost money but in the long run be an investment) and then you could create the ads to then link them to certain competitions/events/sales etc. You could also monetise your videos for what it is you are posting, there are rules around this though and they can be really picky in terms of even the song you use or logos that might show up on the video ( copyright etc) also has to be a certain length and visitors have to watch the whole video for you to earn the money, but if you do it correct you can earn a lot. My partner had a motocross fb group a few years ago (2016) and once he was able to monetise his videos he was really successful for about 6 months. I think the most he earned in a month was £3600, first month was £900 or so. But he constantly got messages telling him one video had to come down for xyz, or he had to remove music on one video. In the end he posted something that they said was someone else's video ( wasn't just was similar to lots of motocross videos) and his Facebook was permanently deleted so he never did it again. It's good when it's good, but is a pain and Facebook are notoriously difficult to get in touch with or to provide any sort of support should you need it.

Like most have said it depends on the group. Would you be happy to explain what kind of group it is? Hobby? Lifestyle? You don’t have to go into full details.

I don’t have a FB group but have an online community that I monitise and it’s based on same interest.

Membership
Paid courses
Consultation
Content creation for brands
In person event backed by sponsors
Product you can sell that’s relevant for the group

There is lots you can do but it really depends on your niche

So let’s say that your group is for let’s say lawyers.

You might create a lawyers meetup with a speaker and networking.

likely sponsors would be those who “sell in” to that audience (so say legal software companies or lawyer recruitment companies).

Or on a small scale let’s say it’s a local mums group. You might organise a local event and get some local trades or shops to sponsor (or the venue to offer a discount and then ticket the event).
