Please help... Does anyone else's 6M old turn their head to their side when they're holding them?

Hello,

So my 6M old generally speaking is on track with most of her milestones. She does squeal, smile, giggle etc. However, when I hold her in my lap and face her towards me she just turns her head to the left or right instead of looking straight back at me unless I sing to her or speak to her in a high pitched voice.

Is this normal?

I've contacted the HV who said she wants to do a developmental check.

I'm worried.

Thanks

erm sort of I remember having to try really hard to get my babies to look me in the eye when sitting on my lap but at that age I think they’re just fed up of seeing your face!
apart from on your lap does she make eye contact in general? During play etc?
They grew out of it.
see what health visitor thinks!

It's probably fine but you're doing the right thing by getting her checked. As much for your peace of mind as anything.

Meant to say you're probably the least interesting thing in the room. No offence 😉 It's most likely she's just really interested in looking at everything

Since she's so used to you and the sound of your voice, isn't she just a nosey baby wanting to see what she can see about her from the elevated position of your lap?
My daughter was somewhat like that, preferred to be outward facing and we did a lot of point and see stuff from the lap eg identifying birds 'blackbird' 'magpie' etc.

She is quite a nosey baby. Loves to look around and see what's going on. I hope it is that. Was in floods of tears earlier worrying about what if something is wrong. HV is due to come on the 17th. Feels like it's ages away

My DD would look at anything BUT me when feeding but my son would look directly into my eyes (and I felt guilty if I was caught reading or watching TV). They’re both well adjusted now.
