To expect not to tread in cat s#it

Anyone please got any ideas of how to stop cats s#itting all over my front garden/path?!
I’ve got a large plant pot with a bush in outside the door, and every morning the mud is flung out and they’ve s#it in it again! It stinks! This morning there’s s#it on my path so I’ve had to pick that up, it’s always in the grass so I have to pick it up before I can mow. Just absolutely disgusting!!
Ive tried coffee grounds in the pot, citrus scents, eucalyptus leaves….i don’t often catch them so can’t really spray with water and most of the cats round here just stare you out anyway!

Just caught up with replies, thanks all, I will try the pokey sticks in soil idea tonight. Tried coffee/citrus scents already, and tin foil!
so used to being sensored online I didn’t think I could say SHIT so thanks 😂
it could be a fox I suppose but there is also SO many cats round here, and quite a few feral. (Cats protection were called and attempted trap to neuter and re-release but still many…)
and yes I’ve seen the cats shit on the grass and not cover it many times over the years.

Fair enough about the cats not covering. Every single one i know of do cover. Our local foxes like doing it on front steps though.

I will try the pokey sticks in soil idea tonight.
And what if an animal stands on one and hurts their foot, where it gets badly infected? What happens if a frog jumps into your grass and impales itself and dies slowly in absolute agony, or a hedgehogtrots across and gets one stuck in its tummy? Please don't hurt the wildlife or the strays over this. Is it possible to get an action sensored water scarer instead?
