Should I push a refund for these nails?

Hi I’ve had acrylics done today, I already had to message her after I’d left as my nails on the one hand were very poorly painted! First pic for reference, I’ve since been home and had a proper look and I’m still unhappy. Polish is uneven and patchy. Some nails are quite far from the cuticle! Some nails also feel sore. I’ve spoken to the technician who said she’d rectify and if I still wasn’t happy she’d refund, AIBU to push for refund as I work full time and struggle to find spare time to get it redone now. It was a special treat to myself and Ive never used this nail tech before x

Should I push a refund for these nails?

I wouldn't let her touch your nails again! It sounds like she's damaged them. You might need to go without anything for a while, except for some repair treatment.

😫 thank you! I’ll just ask her to remove them even if she doesn’t give me a refund. Which is annoying 😔

Personally I think it's reasonable to allow her to rectify the work.

This is what most professions would want to do.

You say she was recommended so clearly some people are happy enough to use her.

PostMenPatWithACat · 02/06/2024 12:57

I think she's screwed it up to such an extent, she shouldn't be allowed anywhere near your nails again.

I'd write it off and get someone else to remove and give an ordinary manicure. If she's taken too much nail away, I wouldn't risk another set of acrylics until your natural nails have grown out and restrenthened.

RochelleGoyle · 02/06/2024 13:12

OP, I would be telling her I no longer trust her to do anything to my nails. She's done a terrible job and anyone can see that. I would insist on a refund and if she protests, tell her you will report to Trading Standards and post pics of her awful work and refusal to refund all over social media.

bryceQ · 02/06/2024 13:21

Oh no... I would be tempted in the situation to go to a different nail salon and explain what has happened, I would be worried that she is going to cause more damage to your nails, if she doesn't understand how to do this I wouldn't trust her to rectify she might cause more damage.

newbeggins · 02/06/2024 13:25

No I wouldn't request a refund for a service unless I had given someone chance to rectify it.

You aren't buying a dress off the rack, there can be reasons why the results vary with a service and if you expect a standard result every time, it won't work like that, no matter who you go to.

Startingagainandagain · 02/06/2024 13:27

Absolutely a refund and then go somewhere else to have this done properly!

She has rectified it once as op said

Christ...they look awful. Really thick and lumpy. Wouldn't trust her to remedy her 'handiwork' at all!

Wendysfriend · 02/06/2024 13:45

Jesus they are bad, it looks like they're growing out not freshly done.

One of the times I had then done a new girl did them, they were similar, miles away from cuticle, very tight feeling etc went back she said she'd re fill them, they felt worse, felt like I had bricks hanging off my fingers, so sore, stinging and so tight, went back again they blamed me, refused a refund said they'd re do them but my fingers were so sore. I ended up going into a chemist and buying nail varnish remover with the highest acetone content, poured it into a bowl and soaked my nails for ages until I could get them off, my own nails were in bits for weeks after , I just kept using loads of nails repair things and creams.

Samcj02 · 02/06/2024 13:55

Thanks everyone! Yes they are very thick and lumpy. I had to go back to have them rectified and instead of buffing or filling the existing varnish she messed up the first time (which I’ve just found out should be done by another nail tech) she just went over them again. I felt rushed as someone she knows who also works In the salon was booked in for something. I’m pretty sure a few are wonky too 😫

Thanks I’ve been in touch with a nail tech but she don’t touch my nails until
these are removed x

I do my own at home (extensions and gel varnish) and that's a shit job from a professional. I do better on my own.

Ifyoucouldreadmymindlove · 02/06/2024 15:01

That is an embarrassment. She is appalling. Tag her with a negative review, find a new hair salon.

Beautiful3 · 02/06/2024 16:13

I'd actually ask her to soak them off.

KreedKafer · 02/06/2024 16:15

That’s appalling. I’d definitely want a refund for that.

321user123 · 02/06/2024 16:24

I’ve learned to do my own gel extensions (not gel polish) and acrylic albeit prefer gel for myself.
and even I can tell you that’s a really shitty job.
the nail is not even and has not been filed well and looks very bulky near the cuticles.
the paint job is horrible and rushed.
As someone else mentioned the tight feeling and soreness is from overfilling.

I would personally just go to someone else and let them file down PARTIALLY and build on top and keep doing fills till your nails grow out.
if you get them fully removed now you’ll have thin sensitive nail beds for weeks… it’s shit and feels really weird..

positivewings · 02/06/2024 19:09

They look overly fake well most do anyway.

First and last time i had my nails done i should have asked for a set of new hands.
I only had nail polish and file clean up never again.

ColdExtremities · 08/06/2024 16:26

Did you get it sorted, @Samcj02 ?

That’s great. Hopefully your next manicure will be much better.
