Taking Dads friend abroad, what's needed?

Hi all, posting here for traffic.

We are taking DDs friend on holiday to Spain in a few weeks and I wanted to check if we need to take any documentation as evidence she wants to come and isn't being abducted (unlike DD who needs to bring a friend to have fun - god forbid she spends time with her parents)

They are 12. We are going to Spain.

From looking online I just need a letter from her dad with contact details and a picture of his passport? Is it worth taking her birth certificate?

Going with DP who has a different surname to me. DD has mine and his so I think that will be ok or do I take her birth certificate too? For example, My name is smith jones. His is Patel. DD is Smith Patel.

If anyone has any tips or tricks - extremely grateful. ☺️

I've done that before, a few times. Assuming the girl has a British passport, all I took was a letter from the parents saying they allowed be to take their daughter.

The letter stated passport number, flight number add parents passport photocopy.
.
That's what I did to be safe but it was never asked.

If the child has other passport, it becomes more complicated

You need the contact details information to be in the form of a consent letter. The gov website has the details. No tricks, just official government information.

You don't need anything for your own child unless your dp isn't her father.

(you'll get a million posts now saying they've never been asked - think of it like customs- not bringing contraband in is the law, but not everyone is stopped at an airport and has their bags checked)

I came on wondering why your dad's friend couldn't sort his own stuff out.

This is where I looked and first time I thought just a letter but then ads and other links on the search had templates to copy (great) but also solicitors websites for a letter and I thought I hope I haven't misunderstood and I should get a notarised copy etc. I knew Mumsnet would have the answer.

There was a link on the jet2 website for a DNI but it's in Spanish and my basic Spanish can't be trusted for the important stuff.

Either I'm a click bait extraordinaire... or auto correct has done me over. I saw it after 🤦🏾‍♀️
