Donning my hard hat for this one - cabin crew appearance

I do realise I'm probably going to get flamed for this but has anyone else noticed a real decline in the appearance of cabin crew members?

Just had a flight with Virgin and the female members honestly looked dreadful. Ill fitting uniforms, red trousers stretched over VPL bottoms, tight white gaping shirts, one had a drab cardigan over the top.

I realise it's a sexist notion but when I was younger they always looked so glamorous strutting through the airport in their heeled court shoes (mainly flat now it appears), immaculate hair and make up.

Also thought the same when I last flew with TUI. The male cabin crew always seem to look well turned out.

I think it's the law that in any job requiring a uniform skirt to be worn (banks, building societies, cabin crew), the wearer has to put on weight so the skirt is at least 2 sizes too small

Of course you can have an opinion. I merely wondered who felt so strongly about Julien MacDonald uniforms in particular that they chose a username based on them and made multiple posts about them on a forum 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Nothing odd about my using Julien MacDonald as a username at all. It's just that - like most aviation buffs who prefer the JM uniform - I happened to opt for that particular name, as it is totally relevant to my comments on this matter. I mean, people ARE allowed to talk about their favourite cabin crew uniforms, aren't they?

It is certainly better than choosing REAL questionable usernames like "Sexy Uniform" or "Hot Chick", isn't it? I would NEVER use those names, as I am not that kind of person.

And look - I am getting a bit SICK TO DEATH of these nasty, uncalled for comments from certain bad-minded individuals on this forum. For heaven's sake, stop picking bad out of what I am saying re good and bad cabin crew uniforms. I am doing no harm at all. If some of you have a problem with aviation buffs airing their views on uniforms, then just don't bother reading them.

The matter is CLOSED now. Any further nasty comments will be ignored. I am entitled to my opinion, just like everybody else.

That's a load of rubbish! Cabin crew should wear uniforms that are smart and stylish and professional-looking. If their uniform is crap - ie. one of drab pants and sneakers and polo shirts - then that will NOT project a good and professional impression of the airline company. I mean, who the hell wants to be served by crew that look as if they have just come from the gym or the factory???

Anyway, that is my opinion, and I am sticking to it. And I know a lot of people agree with me on this.

Because of course, we all have to pretend there is no middle ground here 🙄

I declare the matter back OPEN.

Glamour doesn't matter to me but I feel better seeing them in more natural fibres and well fitting clothes. They look more comfortable and that makes me more comfortable.

All this ill fitting polyester gives me the panicky itch.

And if we're campaigning against terribly designed uniforms that fit NO ONE properly... can I raise the horror that is NHS trousers?!

Even my boss who has an absolutely amazing figure looks bloody terrible when she wears them. No one looks good in them, no one looks tolerable in them and the only redeeming feature they have is pockets.
