Hi, do you throw a party for your child and their nursery friends ? She is going to be 4.
I have had few invites and mainly from the girls she plays . I personally wanted to start throwing parties when she starts primary school . Not sure what to do as we don't have a big budget but would love to invite for a soft play ,but not sure how it works . I don't really want a party ,just few girls she can play at soft play and some cake ? Is there point ,what if they don't turn up?
Would be rude not to throw anything ? We don't really have much money , but feel rude not invite back x

We didn't do parties until primary school.

Days out and birthday teas with family until then.

@MinervaMcGonagallsCat that is what I always did , but because we don't have many kid friends outside I am starting to feel maybe I should invite some ? Only because she mentioned and have seen others have .

Just don't bother. Nobody will mind.

Invite one for a mess around at the playground one morning.

Is picnic at the park with some party bags a crazy idea ?

Probably tricky because of the weather

Invite to your house, this was the norm when my kids were tiny

Could you invite a few to soft play and pay for them, rather than actually booking a party, it's much cheaper if only want a few. And you could bring a few picky bits, cupcakes, drink cartons etc

ivise · 31/05/2024 18:42

@mitogoshi we live in a pretty small flat so I don't think it would be great idea ,also I don't really know their parents like that

@Bushmillsbabe I was thinking that but it worked around 100 without food for 5 children , and also I think u can't bring your own food if you haven't booked a party xx

I think it’s fine to wait for primary to do parties. And I’m saying that as someone who did a party for them every year at expense… the friends from primary parties are the ones that were significant.

DD got birthday party invites from nursery age, it was common in her nursery. In summer plenty of parents just had some food in a local park.

Park picnic party sounds lovely, I know the last week has been awful, but it is the summer so you have a good chance of nice weather. Paper table cloth and some balloons on a picnic table or big blanket. You can buy little boxes and pack a more crisp/biscuit heavy packed lunch for each kid as birthday tea. Then bring out a cake (remember to pack knife, lighter for candles & paper plates or napkins).
