People who knock and don't stand visible by the door

Im not waiting for a delivery or anyone to arrive. I was having nap, Maybe I'm just in a grumpy mood. But why do people do this? Bang on the door/ring doorbell the sender out of view of the eye view thing or camera. Had it just now. Banging the door..ring the bell. Can't see them. I thought it was my husband as allbi could see was side of jumper arm. So I opened the door.

No. It was a delivery driver wanting me to take a neighbours parcel. That's fine. But why hide your self? Happens a lot! we have mNy delivery drivers. Male and female. The female drivers never do this.

They're not hiding, they're just not bothering to think of the best position to be in.

Or they've picked the very best place to stand in to avoid the stupid camera.

@SoupDragon I have a stupid camera as my car has been broken into twice. I don't particularly like a camera either to be fair.

@mrsm43s fair enough. We get a lot of jehovas witnesses, people selling things etc in my area. I don't want to speak to them. So I look who it is first.

Ask the next JW ones to be put on the list not to visit.

That's that sorted then. Won't stop the Mormons though.

Springchickenonion · 01/06/2024 08:21

@mumda oh I didn't know that was a thing! Thank you

I’m with you, I hate this, I can see folks out the side window at the door, but if they stand really close to it, ie noses inches away I can’t, and I can’t fathom why people stand so close to someone’s front door. A lot of delivery drivers do it. Standing all but pressed up against someone’s front door is odd and must feel odd, just stand normally ffs.

WonderingWanda · 01/06/2024 08:22

Maybe they don't want to be on camera....in the same way you don't want to speak to people you don't know. I'm sick of all these cameras everywhere recording me and my neighbours being able to keep track of my every move.

Springchickenonion · 01/06/2024 08:23

Exactly @Myblindsaredown knock. Take a step back. That's it. Not difficult is it. I have always made sure that the person would be able to see who I was when knocking.

I don't stand out of view of the door.

@WonderingWanda I understand that. But my car keeps being broken into. Apart from that I don't look at my doorbell.

The doorbell is in the middle high up face height (average height) its just a path. Nothing behind them they need to get away from. They can just step back a little so they are visible. They move to the side out of the way. Literally no reason ti do this.

I am grumpy though. I haven't slept well in ages and was in a deep sleep nap and it woke me up. To have a neighbours package thrusted in my face.

Are they moving to the side so they can see through a window whether you are approaching the door? Every second counts for timed delivery drivers so it's useful to see if anyone is on their way to the door. I see Patients in their own homes and I do exactly the same.

Stop being so grumpy - it's only your own day you'll spoil!

For me, no, they’d need to step back to see through a window.

No windows. @FarmGirl78 you are right. I'm just exhausted. Insomnia, and working 6 days a week and 4 kids. To have someone banging at the door for a neighbours delivery sent me over the edge yesterday
