What would you think if you was turned down for a job nearly two weeks ago but someone who works in the company viewed your linked in profile yesterday? Why would they do this?

Depends on who it was. Random person, probably being nosy or thought they may know you somehow. HR or hiring manager, updating their records to include your profile link. If you've been turned down for the role I don't think it'll be because they are changing their minds. Sorry.

Nosy gits.

You may have performed well in the interview but not enough to secure this role. They could be interested in you for future roles.

Wouldn't give it a second thought. Linkedin is a shitshow.

If the job you went for was similar to the one you do know, then there will likely be tenuous connections to some people who work there, via other people you've worked with - six degrees of separation type of thing. It's also completely possible that someone who interviewed you stumbled across your profile and thought 'She looks a bit familiar, I wonder why? Oh, it's that woman who came for an interview recently' and then thought nothing more of that.

It's possible that if you only missed out on the role by a whisker, then they might have just wanted to remember you if another post came up at some point. But I wouldn't read anything into it really.

I know in our recruitment process, we aren't allowed to look up candidates on any social media, google them, whatever. We literally only have their CV and our notes from the interview to make the decision. We don't even get to see cover letters, which always makes me boil a bit, given how much effort I feel I put into writing them myself. I don't know if they just bin them?

After the decision is made, if I'm curious about someone's background or anything, I might then look them up (I have in fact). Because then it isn't a violation of our recruitment policies.

They may have accidentally clicked a link in your CV and been taken to your profile?

Wouldn't give it much more thought. Probably being nosy, should know better given LinkedIn shows you who viewed your profile but there you go 🤷🏼‍♀️
