To be terrified of a huge mouse?!!!

So I've just gone into the utility to put on a wash, and as I picked up a pile of clothes that I was getting ready to put in, a huge mouse ran out of it and across the kitchen floor! Screamed loudly!
Asked my husband to come downstairs which he did (very huffily as he was just settling down to bed) but he can't be bothered to find it.
I've put the cat downstairs but he's only good at bringing them in and playing with them.
I'm genuinely terrified of going in the kitchen tomorrow!
We have put humane traps down but they are too smart.

Are you sure its a,mouse ?
We had a,few mice get in when I lived near a river they are usually tiny
We had rat problem last year and that was far worse they destroy everything ,we had to use poisonous pellets to get rid .

Get a grip, you wuss. It is a rat, not a crocodile.
Call someone tomorrow to get it killed.

Have you ever had a rat problem ?because i have and it ain't pretty theyvchew through everything and piss and shit everywhere, it can be a nightmare .

CountingCrones · 29/05/2024 00:42

Yeah, big ‘mouse’ usually isn’t a mouse.

DownWithThisKindOfThing · 29/05/2024 00:49

I think you need to get the snap ones. Don’t see the point in the humane ones, surely unless you take them miles away they’ll come back! We had one recently as well but saw it off with the traps. 🐁

About 2 months ago I was sitting in work and a big mouse walked out from behind my computer screen. I nearly propelled myself out the window behind me.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 🐭

Oooooo says him

That's a Hamster

ThinWomansBrain · 29/05/2024 00:52

Probably a rat if its really big

LifeInTheRaw · 29/05/2024 00:53

The mouse is more likely to be out and about in the hours 1am to 3.30 am while it's nocturnal but still dark, and not as much chance of encountering us humans.
So set any traps up before you go to bed.
Daylight tomorrow, see if you can find any entrance points for mouse to come and see what goodies it can find... if you are lucky enough to spot it, get it sealed off.
Unlucky, I've got floorboards, so mouse/mice can access ANYWHERE 🫣
I agree that peanut butter, or grapes or chocolate is usually a fair bet re temptations for the mouse.

Good luck.... I do get that some pp are not frightened, nor am I, but I'd hate them to plan a family, and I shudder at the thought of little feet running over my duvet in the night..... arghhhh

First day in a new job - had a short meeting to introduce myself to my team; suddenly realised everyone was totally focussed on something else - there was a mouse on the window sill behind me. I then got to meet the facilities team as four of them arrived to try and catch a very tiny mouse.

OP is talking about one animal only and not a plague of them.

Lifesd · 29/05/2024 00:58

There was a big mouse in my kitchen once - I only felt relief after the initial shock that is wasn’t a bloody spider

Minimili · 29/05/2024 01:02
