I know IABVVU but I am posting here for more traffic .DC has finished their professional policing degree and is now trying to get on the accelerated detective pathway. They have passed the on line assessments but failed the final interview for one force. They have reapplied for another force (the online assessment can be carried over) so they have another final interview soon. DC is a wonderful person ( I am biased I know) v.honest ,sensible and perceptive.. but would find the interview process hard. They did get feedback from the unsuccessful interview but I am wondering if we should try BlueLight to help with the interview questions and technique..Has anybody used them or has any other advice they can give me.. thank you in advance.

What is the accelerated detective pathway? Is it a route to becoming a detective or fast track to promotion?

SettlerofCatan · 27/05/2024 20:07

Sorry I wasn’t clear .. yes it’s a route to becoming a detective .

Absolutely essential to use them id say from conversations at work

Has he done any actual policing? He's done a degree, so not as much practical work as an 'apprentice' copper, so he needs some practical, full-time experience
Because if he hasn't put in some serious shifts, he's not going to be viewed well by the team.
Sounds like nurses who don't actually want to do nursing or get shit under their finger nails, but use the fast-track degree route into management

My friends DS has done a policing degree and was on duty and doing shift work after around 9 months studying initially without being on the beat as such. If it’s the same sort of degree he will have been on duty for at least two years already @VestibuleVirgin . He was still studying whilst on duty as well.

Yes, appreciate that there is an element of practical work while studying. But seems like OPs husby is wanting to go straight into detective work without consolidating degree
