To not understand how UK holiday parks so expensive

So we’ve just done our first European holiday park experience, beautiful spacious park, all activities, entertainment and several hours of free childcare included, clean, amazing facilities and atmosphere , not too busy and other guests very civilised and to top it, beautiful weather. No stink of sewage in the sea either. All for half the price of a UK holiday park and a fraction of centerparcs or anywhere like that. This isn’t in a 3rd world country, everything else in these countries costs the same as the UK. Just can’t understand now how UK parks get away with charging so much for what they offer?

Totally agree, I would happily holiday in UK but the costs are extortionate and greedy.

A recent 3 day w/e in York cost us as much as a 1 week stay in France when comparing accommodation and food costs elements.
if rather pay that money and have a week away and better weather.
Ferry costs have become extortionate and greedy as well,
but the eurotunnel and Tesco partner voucher make it reasonable and quick to get there.
Even if I wasn’t on a budget I would refuse to pay centre parks type places prices on principle, especially when activities are also extra.

my other latest frustrations with holiday let accommodation is the expectation of me to clean accommodation ready for next arrival.
I would always clean and strip the beds prior to leaving, but this latest practice of threatening to withhold deposit money if I don’t I find totally unacceptable, I’m on holiday not a professional cleaner and I’m not being paid the £100 cleaning fee for doing the cleaning🤷‍♀️.
My family usually have 2 or 3 w/e meet ups a year in various locations plus an annual fortnight/3week holiday.
We’re all public sector workers so not rich by any means and save up hard go be able go give our kids the opportunities to spend time together and make memories.
For us in future we will not be using holiday let’s/parks or air bnb type things, we will use hotels on family late deals and not have to pay these deposits do cleaning or cooking.
Private owners greed is shooting themselves in the foot people will eventually get wise to it and vote with their feet.
