Do you binge a bit if you break your diet?

I’ve been really disciplined with my diet recently, going to bed hungry and sticking to 1200 calories per day.
Today we had a bbq, I’d written it all day on my fitness pal and could have a nice cheeseburger, wedges, salad and some left over. Instead I had an ice cream when home, ate 3 mini flakes and thought F it and have now had ice cream in a bowl and cheese sandwich. Not huge binge but it’s almost like I well eat now, feel crappy for giving in 🙁Will this day have made a difference?

One day won't make a difference. You will just be in smaller calorie deficit. You won't gain fat overnight. If the scales go up tomorrow doesn't mean to gained just that you have extra food still digesting etc. Get back on it tomorrow and don't think about it again.
I've been cal counting and tracking for three months now, but the last two weeks I've completely fell of the wagon and have been eating like absolute shit. And I mean full on bingeing. All day everyday. I've only gained a 1lb. But I'm a very big girl and have a lot to lose. Don't give up because youve over indulged. Get it out your system and move on. (Rich coming from me)

Yes I do. Lost 2 stone last year, by eating smaller portions different exercise. I've just about kept it off by doing the same. I'm very controlled, recent stopped eating bread.
But if I have a bad day, I think stuff it. It's happened. It's one day.

The thing being is that extra calories on one day and just one day won't make much difference. It's continuing to eat those extra calories...just stop yourself tomorrow

I think there's a science behind it, I watched a documentary that did an experiment and split two groups of people who are on a diet. They were all given some cake and one group were told that a slice was within their calorie target for the day and the other group were told it took them over their calories for the day. The group that were told it was over their calories ended up eating three times the amount that they group who were told it was within their limit did. I think they called it something like the catastrophic effect where you think you've blown it and go into fuck it mode
