Scam Blackmail Email

I just received the email below, and while I don't visit any adult sites I'm a bit concerned as I do use my iPhone and iPad in the bath. Also DD uses both devices quite a lot.

Like everyone I've received this type of email before and have just googled and seen others have emails that are exactly the same and have binned and blocked the sender. However I can't find anything for this one and it's been sent via an app called UpKeep and has a purchase order attached. It was also in my inbox and not the junk folder which is new.

I know it's unlikely but I'd rather my workmates and family didn't receive footage of my boobs floating about in a bubble bath, as I watch the Bridgerton carriage scene yet again 😂

Also is there anywhere I can report these scumbags as I feel worried enough so can't imagine the panic that someone who has visited adult sites would feel!

It’s not real OP and there’s nowhere to report these ‘scumbags’ as it’s just a dummy email address mass sending the same exact mail to 50k people at a time. It’s not 2 lads sitting in their living room in Russia saying ‘let’s mess with AreYouBeingSerious’.

Don’t even bother opening those emails and certainly don’t click the attachments.

I’m a widowed, female pensioner - I get these mails, and just think “bring it on” lol🙄

I'd hope nobody would be that daft, but just supposing someone sent the £1149 to someone already indulging in criminal blackmail ... how likely is it that they wouldn't be straight back for more, and on top of that sell the details to yet more scammers?

There’s nowhere to report these scammers and the police won’t be interested because they could be anywhere so not able to be caught.

Block and let it go.

If you email address is your name or something like 2 words then a computer program will have put those 2 words together in the hope that they are an actual email address. Eg [email protected], [email protected]

It’s like those programs that text every possible UK mobile number 07000000000 through to 07999999999 in the hope that enough people believe that Evri need £3 missed delivery fee before they get their parcel.

Oh my god, i just got that same email and my heart stopped for a good minute. I watch booktook videos in my shower and had the same dread of my boobs being out there.

So sorry you got this too but I'm glad someone had this exact same email so I know it's even more likely a scam.

I totally panicked for a moment too (hence this thread). I mean if you took some of the faces I pull when watching my iPad (with and without my baps out!) and mashed it together with some stuff from some adult sites (to give the idea that was what I was watching) it could have looked authentic I guess - I mean there are some very funny 'completion' faces out there 😂

An internet search on “UpKeep blackmail” led me to your thread. (The only helpful result that came up BTW.) I created an account here just to tell you that I got the same email this morning over here in Montana, USA. And to say thanks for posting this and helping to ease my mind.

These emails are designed to make people panic snd ultimately send the scammers money.

Once you engage with them they threaten you further otherwise they will “out you” to all of your friends and family.

I'm so sorry you experienced this aswell, honestly same, I usually don't react to something like this, but this was directly on my private mail that I use for work and such. So when I couldn't find anything on reddit I really started to worry become what if they have a photo of my face and put it on someone's body and my boss got that, I would be mortified to say the least.
So i google searched the mail and found you, and honestly thank you for putting this out here become my next move would have been to go to the police and cry.🥲

I mean they’d been around for ages before I got one…

Honestly if someone is still falling for this then they need to spend some of the time they are dedicated to ummm extracurricular activities in front of their computer to educating themselves on bog standard email scams.
