Hello posting anonymously

I am currently in a mental heiath ward have been for a few weeks. I am due to see my DD age 4 tommrow. There is current MRSA on the ward I have taken precautions as I'm slightly immcompromised myself. My DD hasn't got any known medical cottons but it's under investigation for constant chest infections/pneminomina. I have not got it myself but I don't want to put my daughter at risk. She will not be coming to the ward. Due to logistics I don't be abele to see her for a while if I don't see her tommrow.

Any advice ?

I'm stressed out of my mind

I suppose you could get her to use hand gel frequently and wear a mask so she isn't putting her hands in her mouth. Maybe go for a walk in the grounds if possible so she isn't touching surfaces. Sorry to hear you've been unwell. Are you feeling better ?

Are the ward allowing visitors? They wouldn’t if the outbreak was serious.

The vist isn't taking place on the ward

I’m a nurse and a lot of the population carry mrsa without it causing any issues. She could have it already and you wouldn’t know or yourself. It only tends to cause issues with cuts and wounds etc.

Is anxiety one of your symptoms OP? I understand your concern but think that the visit will be really good for you and your daughter. I wouldn't cancel it. You'll be off the ward and like someone else said a lot of people have it on their skin and it's not an issue. Enjoy seeing her and I hope your hospital stay is helping you.

I would seek advice from the nurses on the ward, they will know how to advise you

I do have anxiety yes.
When the ward are using gloves and PPE (as they should!) and I'm immunocomprimised it does worry me as I don't live with it on my skin neither does my daughter ( we are tested regularly due to my condition) the nurses have said they can't comment and it's up to each family.
I'll make sure she washes her hands regally and we'll be outside so we should be okay.
