A slip of the tongue over breakfast this morning led me to unintentionally divulge my internal cereal category system to dh. He questioned it and thinks I'm mental and that cereal is cereal and it's all shit so there's no difference in any of them (except porridge...he gave me that).
AIBU to consider cereals as one of three categories?
Category 1
An exclusive category consisting only of porridge, weetabix and shredded wheat. This is the aim for most of the dc's cereal-based breakfasts.
Category 2
The mids. Not particularly great, they don't measure up to the Cat 1's which I steer dc towards - but they eat them and I don't really mind too much. Life's too short, they chuck a banana on top and I still sleep well.
Cheerios, cornflakes, crunchy nut cornflakes, multigrain hoops (lidl), flavoured/dry fruit muesli's, rice crispies.
Category 3
The crap. Equivalent of eating haribo for breakfast and they're bought very occasionally only.
Coco pops, frosties, cereal cookies (lidl) and plenty of others that are usually aimed at kids.
I have done no research FYI and (believe it or not given the length of this post) have never given it that much thought...my mental categories have formed organically after random cereal box perusing over the years. I'm prepared to be corrected!
